I love chocolate! The bon bons that I purchased were very good. I believe there was only 1 out of the 5 that didn't have much of a taste. That was the matcha yuzu flavor. I didn't taste the matcha tea, or the yuzu. All the other chocolate flavors were delicious.
I shared them with my husband. The passion fruit flavor was the clear winner. The biscotti and espresso flavors were also great choices. The ginger pear was my second favorite, but I thought it tasted more like candied papaya. That's actually a good thing. It brought back memories of my grandmother's papaya candy.
I think I was more impressed with the beautiful hand-painted bon bon shells, as well as the 65 Roses dark chocolate bar. I've never had candied rose petals in chocolate. What a great combination! We kept breaking off little pieces of the dark chocolate bar any time we needed a little sweet something. It took us a week to finish it. I'd say that it was worth it. All of the profits for this bar is donated to an organization that supports children with Cystic Fibrosis. I didn't even know about the "65 Roses Story" until looking for it later. Read about it on the CF Foundation website.
The one thing that was odd is that most of the cases were empty. I've seen pictures posted with pastries & desserts displayed in them. We were there some time between 1 and 2 pm. I did see gelato, macarons, bon bons, and other specialty chocolates. They must have already sold everything else in the morning hours. I'll need to revisit this location again to try the...
Read moreAwesome tea service!! The food was delicious as we're the teas(Earl Grey Creme and Blackberry Royale). It was our first time visiting and it definitely won't be the last! Susan greeted us and gave us the backstory on the genesis of Wm. Dean Chocolates (she is the owner's sister!) and the scoop on upcoming growth for the company. The staff were friendly and would check in periodically to see if we needed anything. They also have a large assortment of chocolates, as well as teas from TeBella (a Tampa-based, woman-owned business...shout out to Abigail!). They serve coffee as well as gelato and sorbet. I happily recommend a visit to Wm. Dean Chocolates, whether for Afternoon Tea, delicious cholocate, something to satisfy a sweet-tooth, or a thirst! I hope you will love it as much as my...
Read moreI am so pleased that William Dean Chocolates is in Midtown. I have visited the Belleair Bluffs location for years to buy gifts and the signature jewel like confections. To enjoy WD’s expanded offerings, in such a central location, inTampa, is game changing. My husband and I strolled into the store after having a good dinner at True Food Kitchen. The store is attractively appointed and the employee manning the counter was welcoming, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We shared a scoop of Key Lime pie gelato, it was sublime. The perfect balance of tangy, creamy and sweet. There was a large selection of gelatos, the signature chocolates and pre packaged irresistibles. It’s a great stop for a treat or the perfect...
