I don't like leaving reviews on hotels because i realize that people will have different experiences at different times and may not be the same experience I have. In this particular case I felt the need to leave one so that first and foremost the hotel will be sure this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future and second to make people aware and to be sure they keep an eye out for things in their room. We checked into the hotel later than we wanted to but it was due to us spending all afternoon in orlando at disney springs. We flew into tampa airport but we traveled to other parts of florida during our time there. We chose this hotel since we were flying out the next morning and it is a newer hotel and it was close to the airport. Let me start by saying the lady who checked us in was very nice and understood why we left less than an hour after checking in. The hotel is not very old at all lil over a year old I believe so keep that in mind. We went up to our room and first thing we always do is check our beds to be sure there are no bed bugs or anything else crawling in the bed and the beds were fine no issues with that. We checked the bathroom and it was fine and we wanted to be sure the room had been dusted and cleaned and that seemed fine. We only took out of our suitcases what we needed for the night and next morning. I grabbed a shower and put on my pajamas and laid on the bed watching tv. My friend was was eating left over lunch from earlier in the day and i was about to go to sleep and my eyes were tired and didn't have my glasses on and I looked up on the wardrobe and thought I saw something but wasn't sure so I got up and there was a roach crawling across the top of the wardrobe. I mashed it with a napkin and found a few more crawling in the corner of the room. We were not going to stay after seeing that. We packed up and decided to find another hotel. We went downstairs and I took the napkin with the roach in it and showed her at the front desk and told her we were not staying and I wanted to speak to the manager but they were not there since it was getting close 9pm at this point. She suggested I call next day but we had an early and long travel day the next day so I had to wait until monday morning to contact the hotel. This is where I have the issue with the hotel. I spoke to 2 different ppl over the next 4 days and was told that the general manager would contact me and I never heard from the manager at all. They refunded my stay which Im very grateful for since it was a pest issue. They didn't seem to take it very seriously and I kept hearing from the people I spoke to they have never seen that in the hotel before and that its a new hotel. I feel that if you have a pest issue that it needs to be taken very seriously and the general manager should have contacted me after me leaving several messages with the hotel. I even called after I saw the refund to try to speak to them and never received a call back. This is unacceptable and poor customer service in my opinion. I sincerely hope that they have taken measures to be sure this doesn't happen again. Sad to say I will not stay with a holiday inn anymore because this wasn't the first time having issues with this hotel brand in another state and that one had a spider infestation. Please be sure to check your room thoroughly in all corners, drawers, closets, beds, everywhere when staying at any hotel but especially at the holiday inn brand hotels. Like I said in the beginning I don't usually leave reviews but felt after all my years of traveling and this being the second bad experience with the brand within 6 months it was necessary. Just for timeline purpose we stayed in...
Read moreWe were so pleased in September to find a brand new hotel in the Tampa Airport area that would be opening in our travel plans for November 7. Booked a king roomusing IHG points. Upon check in, Jackie immediately recognized us as Platinum Elite members and had already upgraded us to a king suite from a standard room without me even asking! Was also asked if we wanted either points or an amenity gift. I chose the 500 points and they were immediately deposited to my account. Was informed of breakfast times and if we had a car. Yes we had a Tesla rental and I inquired about a charging station at the hotel and was told that they are still in the box waiting to be installed. Great to know that they will be there sometime soon. There is an EV charging station next door behind the Chase Bank although we didn't use it.
As others have commented, there are plenty of eating options and we chose Chipotle that was immediately next door. Ordered online and walked over and picked up our order. The Mexican Coca-Cola glass bottle had a cap that needed a bottle opener to open. I always carry a corkscrew opener but no bottle cap opener. Jackie at the front desk was the life saver and had an opener at the desk. Thank you Jackie! . To use the computer in the lobby, you need to enter a PIN. The PIN is on a sheet taped to the table. Would have been easier if the PIN was posted on the wall or on the monitor. Printer worked fine to print our airline boarding passes.
The morning breakfast was as expected and was fairly quiet on this 7am Wednesday morning. It was an easy drive to the TPA airport from the hotel to return our rental car.
This is the first time that we have stayed in a brand new hotel in many, many years. I highly recommend this hotel and will be our future hotel to stay when we fly in/out of Tampa airport.
Thank you IHG and Jackie for a...
Read moreI came for a few days to catch the Philadelphia Eagles play the Tampa Bay buccaneers. Spent 3 days & 2 nights, Saturday night to Monday morning at this IHG holiday inn express. Check in was easy and front desk lady was friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. I got 2 queen beds in my room even tho was just myself. They also had a nice large walk in shower. They also had an Iron, ironing board, microwave, mini fridge, keurig machine w complementary Kcups but they do offer coffee in the lobby all the time. Breakfast was 7-10 a.m. on weekends and 6-9 a.m. during the week and had a huge selection of food to choose from. They also have a nice pool, exercise room with stairmasters, weight and treadmills for guests to use. Guest laundry with washers and dryers. They have a small mini golf area and cornhole. And a small patio area with tables and umbrellas covering the tables. This hotel is close to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stadium and Yankees practice field, about a mile so easy to walk there. there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, Chipotle, McDonald's, sonic, and other sit down restaurants like denny's and other place to choose from. Only thing was there was NOT good signage out front of the hotel by the street telling you where exactly the hotel is at so if you are using your GPS pay attention cause you could miss the hotel cause it's set back from the street a little ways. I would suggest to the owners to put some sort of signage so it's easier to locate. Otherwise, it's a pretty nice IHG hotel I was able to use my membership at and the front desk clerk even acknowledged and thanked me for being an IHG member which I haven't had at other IHG hotels I've stayed at so tht was nice of them. I Would recommend this Holiday Inn Express if you plan on staying in Tampa for a Bucs Game or just...
