It used to be good. Used to be the only place where you could get Malayalam products. We would come here to get my mother in law her Vaneda, her fish curry mix, and a good selection of fresh fruits.
Then about 2 years ago it went downhill. Maybe it got new management. I noticed it when we went in to get ma's curry mix: everything looked water damaged and/or expired. I figured they had some bad luck, and they would recover in a month or two.
They cleaned up the mess, but products are consistently beyond expiration. I wouldn't buy expired food for my family and stopped going over a year ago.
Last weekend my mother inlaw remembered the store and told us to go. She couldn't get anything she wanted. The entire shelf of saras curry was expired in January (we visited at the end of June). That includes the fish curry, meat curry, and coconut curry. My mother was so dissapointed and I hate seeing her dissapointed.

Read moreMy experience buying grocery from here is very nice. We always purchased grocery from this store when we stayed in hackensack. I always found what I need and I liked the food which they sell at back and also from their restaurant beside. Their idli wada uthapam and meals are very delicious and very reasonably charged . The owner may be weak in English but is a very good person. I am not a maliyali but never faced any problem asking for anything, they always understood what I meant and gave me what I asked them for. He and his wife have been very kind to us. They close around 8pm if I remember right , but when they got to know that I was pregnant even after locking the doors when they saw me they always opened the store for me out of kindness. I remember even in cold winters and during snow he opens the lock for me and allowed me to buy my grocery. I usually don't write reviews but this is the only way I can thank them for...
Read moreThe store offers both North indian and south Indian items and have been catering to the Indian Community here for over 20 years now. They also offer freshly cooked food (which includes authentic kerala style Idli, Dosas, chicken, fish and mutton dishes) you need to call them to know what's on the menu today. There snacks like parippa vada (lentil vada) and Uzhannu vada (Sambar vada ), Onion Vada , Meat puffs , Banana fritters are some of the best on this side of the town. Just a small local shop, where you will feel at home. A slice of Home away from Home.
Note: I see a bunch of older reviews claiming bugs. The store went a major repair few months back. Seems much cleaner and...
