Long Overdue Rave: Discovering Ellas Vineyard in Paso Robles
It’s been a while, but I’ve finally carved out time to rant about the amazing wines we discovered at Ellas Vineyard in Paso Robles, Tin City Annex. I had originally planned to visit another winery, but—whoops!—someone (ahem, me) slept in. On a whim, we noticed that Ellas Vineyard was open, and decided, “Why not?!”
Well, it turned out to be an absolute gem. Beyond the stunningly elegant tasting room, the experience blew us away!
I have been exploring Paso Robles for quite a while, and we're always on the lookout for new local wineries to join. This time, I was hoping to find a great Italian varietal—and boy, did I. Wow. It was everything I was looking for and more. ( I attended this venue with a friend- hence the "we")
Our host, Chris, took incredible care of us from the start. He walked us through each wine, explaining the unique character of each one. And then, the real treat—he suggested pairing the wines with cheese! For me, this is the perfect pairing: food + wine = heaven. Chris also shared the story of his partnership at Ellas, and we loved hearing about how they craft their wines. You can tell he's passionate, and he made the whole experience feel personal and special. Not to mention, he was just an all-around genuine, kind, and sweet guy (sorry ladies, hes off the market- congrats again on your recent engagement, Chris!).
Ellas Vineyard truly won us over with its hospitality, the thoughtful food pairings, and of course, the wines. My favorite was a delicious sparkling wine (I’m a sucker for a good bubbly!), while my friend fell in love with their aged wines. Needless to say, we didn’t leave empty-handed— I signed up to be wine members, and I couldn’t be more excited to get our next shipment!
I already looking forward to returning in December. If you’re ever in Paso, do yourself a favor: check out the elegance of the tasting room, bask in the warmth of the hospitality, and get a little tipsy while falling in love with their wines. Trust me, you...
Read moreMy best friend and I had the joy of coming across this incredible tasting room experience this weekend. We came across the winery by happenstance as it was open a bit later than the other surrounding ones, and we couldn't be happier about our luck! We had the pleasure of having Chris walk us through a tasting, and the passion he has for the wines and the winemaking journey that he takes part in is clear. We loved every single wine we tasted - they are nuanced, carefully crafted, and unique in the varietals they grow for this area. There's a clear study and dedication to the French wines that their bottles are modeled after while still creatively playing with the unique notes that California ripeness has to offer. I would highly recommend anyone in the area taking the time to...
Read moreFor lovers of Italian varietals, there is perhaps no better place in Paso Robles to enjoy them than at Ella's Vineyard Tasting Room. The tasting room is intimate and beautiful located in the Tin City Annex. We were carefully guided through five estate grown wines by both Josh and Kat Morris, owners and winemakers who are both incredibly passionate about what they do and very generous with their time and knowlege. I am an Italian wine scholar and am often left disappointed when tasting California-Italian wines. At Ella's Vineyard they truly understand the varieties and allow ample time in the barrel to allow the wines to develop their true potential. We will return...
