This is an adorable park that has unfortunately been swallowed up in a negative environment and disrepair. When my toddler and I were there, the police were “dealing with” a homeless camper across the street at the library. The public defender’s office is on the other side and the whole area does not appeal to families with children, no food, no shops, just bails bondsman. Terribly sad. Several areas of the structure needed repair with boards warped, nails sticking out and caution tape “blocking off” a section. The design is very imaginative, with even shade trees and nice sitting areas, but makes plenty of zero visibility areas for monitoring children and/ or vagrants. For the sake of the families that made the hand tile mural, the artists and designers and the families of Texarkana, please fix this park(and clean up the area). Realizing this might be too much to ask, I guess we won’t be back...

The skate park is nice, but needs some seating. One concern here is that there is a lot of trash being left on the playground, and the occasional person asking for money. I think some people sleep here, so watch out for things that might...
