AMC Dine in is a movie theater in Thousand Oaks. Situated right in The Oaks mall shopping center. While the movie and atmosphere were suitable, the process in getting food was atrocious. My movie was to start at 10 pm, I officially ordered my food at 8:48 pm in order to have time to eat before the movie started. I waited at the front tables where I was told they'd bring me my food. I must add I am also chronically ill, so I administered my medication in preparation to eat my meal. Time passed. When it was thirty minutes past the time I ordered my food, I once again entered the line to inquire where my food was. The line was filled with people, but prior, I was the only person there at the time. When I finally got to the front of the line, a full hour officially passed, and the medication was starting to take full effect upon me. They said they were busy, retrieved my food, and I ate it promptly before I felt any worse. This was an abysmal experience, though, for the sheer lack of efficiency on the part of the kitchen staff. I asked for no compensation nor refund, despite the mediocre service, for I knew it would do no good. The food was tasty, but when you are eating to keep your health stable and not merely to eat, it's hard to determine the quality overall. I hope that next time I am here, they make a better effort to properly get their orders out in a manner...
Read moreNice and comfy recliners with heated seats and trays with cup holders built in (for a standard screening, I believe the IMAX screenings don't have the same recliners). They keep the theaters/seats very clean. Also, the screens are in good condition. The sound system is excellent.
Staff are courteous and do a good job with customer service, food preparation, and cleaning. Decent food selection and a fairly well stocked bar for those 21+. Food gets delivered to your seat fairly quickly, and the loaded tots tasted great.
If you like Coke Freestyle machines, you're in luck. There are two on either side of the lobby (four total), plus an ICEE machine on each side as well.
Really, the only complaint is that the seats might be too comfy (especially with the seat warmer on). Two out of five people in our party fell asleep because it was just too comfy! And no, it wasn't a quiet (or boring) movie (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire).
Prices are pretty standard for theaters these days (maybe slightly higher than average). But be warned, it can get expensive quickly with soda, popcorn, food, alcoholic drinks,...
Read moreI've been going to this theater since it opened back when it was Movico, then Carmikes, now it's AMC and with each new owner the quality and service has gone down. I recently saw a movie here trying to be fair and give them another chance. Seriously disappointing, we went mid day on a Friday to try and beat the heat a little bit, we prepaid for "deluxe" seating in the upstairs area. First of all there was no staff available upstairs except someone stocking the bar. We went down stairs and got our lunch and snacks, (so long $100 for 3 guys), then went back upstairs, found our seats in a very warm theater, we did ask someone to fire up the air conditioning but during the entire movie that never happened.
I'm guessing next it will be a $3 theater for awhile then they'll turn it into a Walmart. Fortunately we have a lot of great theater options in the area, Studio Movie Grill in Simi Valley, good food, reasonable prices, and fairly good service at your seat, even the Janns Mall theater is better...
