Met some friends here to catch up and grab some lunch. I had been here a couple years ago and remembered it being pretty decent. The decor of the restaurant is nice and the place is kept quite clean which is great. Our waiter was pretty attentive and friendly. However when I placed my order I accidentally said two things combined that they don't have on their menu, it took him a couple minutes to realize it and come back. So maybe not the best knowledge of the menu. Thankfully I had realized it almost immediately and would have tracked him down, but he had disappeared.
I had just come from San Diego and had tried the Crack Shack so I decided to follow up and try the Lazy Dog's version of a fried chicken sandwich. When we all received our food the sandwich looked pretty good. The breast was nice and thick and had a good looking breading on it. The bun looked fresh and toasted and the toppings weren't spilling all over the place. I always wait a minute to bite into anything fried since you never know if there will still be a pocket of hot oil waiting for you. Thankfully biting into this it was just the right temperature and the breading had a nice crunch to it. The chicken was really good and juicy and the breading was seasoned very nicely. The pimento cheese is an interesting choice, I wouldn't say a bad one, but I wouldn't say a good one either. I feel like the pimento cheese along with the pickled jalapeños make for a somewhat sour taste, not a creamy and spicy deliciousness that I was hoping for. Especially considering the slaw on the burger was called "fiery" I expecting a bit of a spice kick between that and the jalapeños. Oh well. By the time I had taken about 3 bites the breading on the chicken was just falling off and the bun was starting to disintegrate, this was fairly surprising since there isn't really sauce on the bun and the chicken isn't juicy like beef. It became a bit of a mess to finish, but I did it.
My friend ordered the grilled cheese and it came out soggy, something a grilled cheese should never be. They had to send it back to get a freshly grilled one. Unfortunately it took awhile for them to get the grilled cheese out so it was a bit awkward since she basically just ended up taking it to go.
It's a decent place to grab a bite, easy to find, and the service is okay. Overall the benefit is just that it is easy to get to to meet up with people thanks to...
Read moreThis was our first time back to Lazy Dog in a couple years. To say this family of four was disappointed was an understatement. The kids menu is broken up into two age groups: 8 and under and 12 and under. The only cheeseburger is on the 12 and under menu, which is more expensive than the 8 and under--around $8 instead of $5 or $6. So we were expecting this to be pretty nice cheeseburger. Instead, it was rock hard with nothing on it but cheese, which didn't look appetizing. I've had better tasting burgers at take out restaurants. We ordered the side of seasonal fruit for the kids. We figured it would be a fruit bowl. Instead it was a huge chunk of watermelon. Not a slice. But a chunk. With the rind still attached. Asking a 3 and 6 year old to bite into a 4-inch thick slice of watermelon is tough. So we had to slice it up, which would have been fine, but their meals are served in baskets with paper lining them, making all that watermelon juice pool and leak through the paper onto the table.
I spilled my water before our food was delivered and even though the staff saw it happen, it took a very long time for them to come over and offer us a towel or napkins to clean it up. By the time they came to help, we'd cleaned it all up with what little napkins we had. And until we asked, weren't brought replacement napkins.
The food we ordered wasn't worth the price. The steak salad was $16 and at any other restaurant would be considered the size of a lunch portion, even though we were there for dinner.
Slow service was a theme the entire evening. We weren't ever asked for drink refills until we needed our bill. And it took a long time for the bill to come as well.
We were very disappointed and...
Read moreWe order "to go" through Uber Eats here frequently and I thought I would write a review for everyone to know that their burgers are fabulous! Our favorite place to get a burger in town was Red Robin and since they shut down we had to find a new place. Now granted, we are very picky about our burgers: (1) We like them cooked the way we order them (2) we want a patty that fits the bun (not smaller, which some places tend to do) (3) we want our patty juicy, fresh tasting and made with choice/high quality meat and (4)we want toppings that are fresh and plentiful. French fries have to be crispy (not soggy) and need to be HOT, not warm. We found our new favorite place for burgers here at Lazy Dog! They have consistently hit the mark on all these standards the last 3 times we ordered through Uber Eats. Please understand that we actually go to pick up our Uber Eats order. We prefer it this way because we want to be assured that our food is hot when we eat it and many times delivery brings us a warm meal, when we prefer it to be hot (HOT food hot, COLD food cold-I was a waitress at a time in my life and this is what I was trained to think of when serving food. It has now become standard when dining out). The Uber Eats app tells us when our order should be ready for pick up and Lazy Dog has always been on time. Pick up there is super easy. You go into the front and tell the hostess you are there to pick up your Uber Eats order. You then go outside to wait for it to be brought out to you, which is in a matter of minutes. It makes for an easy...
