I came here with my wife today in search of a few items. We were unlucky in finding what we needed. However, we found an old price tag laying next to an appliance it didn’t belong to that listed the brand and style we were looking for, with the actual machine nowhere to be found. I figured we could keep searching for it and it would surely be somewhere.
As we were browsing, I heard one of the employees asking a couple if they needed help finding anything or had any questions. After that, the employee left to do other things. I figured they didn’t notice us, so we kept browsing.
As we came round about to the end of searching the store, the same employee asked the couple next to us if they had any questions or needed help finding anything. They said no, and the employee left without saying anything to us. Not 20 seconds later, another employee came to the same couple next to us and asked the same questions as the previous employee. Again, they left without even glancing in our direction.
It seems we didn’t “look” like we had the money or the “style” to be shopping in this store and get assistance. And so instead of spending money there, I’m spending time here to tell people it’s not worth it. Don’t go here and get judged and ignored by stuck up people who don’t deserve your time and your money. If they really cared about every purchase and customer, they would show it. It’s very apparent they don’t. I will not be spending my money here, as much as I was planning on it. Shopping local would be nice, but unbiased customer service...
Read moreTheir knife sharpening service is extremely hit or miss. If they tell you it'll be a few days. Just walk away and don't take that chance. I took 3 knives that were very special to me there. The lady at the counter initially was all too happy to accept my sharpening order. It took roughly 3-4 days before my knives were complete. I pick the knives up and all is good. But when I got home I examined the knives a lot more closely and realized 1 knife had it's edge horribly butchered, another wasn't even sharp and the last one had gunk all over it.
Took the knives back and showed them what had happened. Turns out the guy doing the knive sharpening wasn't even aware of my order. He told me that the knives I took in shouldn't even have been accepted. My grandmothers boning knife is literally a toothpick in blade profile thickness, the filet knife was also a weird thickness and my grandmothers mini-cleaver was too short.
The guy did his best to fix the issue and apologized intensely for the mistake. But he agreed that whoever took the order shouldn't have done so.
Williams & Sonoma's knife sharpening service is strictly for chef knives. If you have a Santoku, Honesuki, Nakiri etc etc knife with weird shapes. Get it sharpened by someone who does stone sharpening. As this place uses an automated hand sharpening that grinds away...
Read more12.19.22 Disappointed in customer service at the store at Washington square. I get it. Every store is busy. However, I waited for my turn patiently (6min to be exact) to ask an associate at the store a question about a Breville espresso machine in regards to the steam wand. I ask my question to the older lady (short hair, tiny clear glasses) about the machine; her response was; “ I DON’T DRINK CAFFE SO I DON’T KNOW!!! CALL BREVILLE DIRECTLY!!” Exactly in that manner in that exact tone of voice. I mean as a customer of Williams-Sonoma, and being that I’ve bought several kitchen items and pay a hefty price for each item the least she could have done was at least say, “you know I don’t know the answer to this, but let me go get you someone that does.’ I mean she only works there for crying out loud and she didn’t know how to properly take her time to answer my question because she doesn’t drink coffee?! Just disappointed, I felt like she did not care. She just wanted me out of her face.. all for asking a simple question. I don’t recommend anybody shop there. They don’t deserve our money. Their customer service is...
