I'm very glad I did this. David, my instructor, made me very comfortable the whole time I was there. He understood I wanted more time rather than "1 measly minute" in order to give me a better chance to develop and improve my skills and was able to give me other options. I was able to pay an additional $60 for 2 more 2 minute fights. I started to get the hang of it on my very last flight. I went ahead and purchased a return voucher, so I'll be back for sure. The rest of the staff was great. Even though I was all done flying, I was reluctant to leave. I'm introverted AF, but I felt very comfortable with everyone that was there and just wanted to stick around and talk.
Update (2nd Visit): Was honored to have David as my instructor again. Definitely made some progress. Went there using my return flight voucher good for ten 1 minute flights, but was converted to five 2 minute flights. I ended up buying 7 more 2 minute flights I was there. I passed Neutral, Up and Down, and Turns on this visit for Level 1. Got work to do on forwards and backwards and will have to work on side to side and keep practicing on entering and exiting the tunnel without assistance.
Update: (3rd Visit): Had the pleasure of working with James as my instructor today. David was running the control booth and was happy to see me back. I was able to pass the remaining Level 1 skills and was able fly on my own in the tunnel. I even got to fly much higher and got to do a couple drills with James. I'm no longer allowed to purchase the return flight voucher. I'll need to purchase block time now. It's actually going to be cheaper now since I won't need the additional coaching as long as I stick to belly flying.
Update: (4th Visit): I was there when Allison Leonard, who also reviewed this place, and her husband were flying. They sure looked like they were having a blast. I'm now a more experienced flyer thanks to David, James, and Stephen and both Allison and her husband were asking me for tips. It was a bit hard to communicate with the ear plugs and the noise from the tunnel, but did my best. Only thing I can recommend between flights is visit "YouTube University." Now I'm studying up on back flying and I will update this review on my progress.
Update: (6th Visit): Had the pleasure to work with Chad. Definitely made some progress with back flying with him. David, James, and Stephen have all been great. I think going with different instructors on each visit does help. Each have their own teaching techniques that work differently with certain people. Also, guess I'm considered a "regular" here. I walked in and exclaimed to the front desk I had to go to the bathroom real quick. Came out and I was already checked in with my wrist band ready to go.
Update: I am now doing AFF and just had my first jump! I will continue to visit this place to work on other skills, but they got me to the point of jumping from an airplane! I even got to jump with single instructor. Because of my tunnel experience, I was able to recover from a sloppy exit where I ended up on my back. All I had to do was arch and I flipped back over like magic. I also appreciate that this iFly also has a connection with the drop zone I'm taking...

My brother and I were charged $15 a piece when we tried to use our gift certificates, citing an expiration on gift pricing. The certificates explicitly state, "does not expire" and make no mention of time limits. It's a crummy policy to charge anyone for a gift they've received, and even worse when a global pandemic necessitated the delay.
Customer service is nearly impossible to reach by phone; the recorded message hung up with no option to wait or request a call-back. On the positive end, the agent, Elizabeth, that I reached by email was friendly, cheerful and remained communicative throughout the process, and I was not rotated between different people at every turn of the exchange.
Upon arrival we were up-sold when it was explained that our ~$80 gifts were only good for floating in place. We needed to pay extra if we expected any vertical action.
Next they tried to lump us in with a children's birthday party — which would have entailed two grown men sitting in a contained enclosure with a bunch of rowdy, unvaccinated children we didn't know. This was to proceed even after the parents' vocal objections, and even though there was no significant time benefit to putting us in together. Fortunately they capitulated when my brother and I added our own objections.
Total time spent inside the chamber, corroborated by the videos we purchased at additional cost, came to just under two minutes. Our handler then gave us an acrobatic display of his own in the hope of selling us on subsequent minutes.
The "dive", itself, is terrific fun and offers unique advantages over actual sky-diving given the ability to fly up and down and execute remarkable acrobatic feats given enough training and time. Unfortunately at ~$50 per minute it is prohibitively expensive and the main event, at 60 seconds per interval, is sadly unfulfilling. For value you are better off learning to scuba or...
Read moreFun instructors, very pricey and horrible manager.
First off let me say that the instructors were excellent at the location near Washington Mall. I have nothing bad to say about the experience other than you do wish you could stay in for a little longer.
Our negative experience came from the management of the facility. We had a group voucher that we let them know we were going to use when we checked in. after we all got done and had a great time the manager approached us and told us that we would not be able to use the Boucher for this event. Simply because we did not put the voucher in a specific little box on the website when we are instructed to make the reservation. So he was not going to refund us any money and charge our card the entire amount for the group. After the staff left I reapproach the manager and let him know how disappointed we were that we were not told ahead of time that the only way we could use the oucher was to give them more than 48 hours notice. He was very passive aggressive, borderline combative, telling us how we were late and that says right on the website where to put about your number. The issue was I did not have the Boucher from the school auction until 24 hours before we came in so there was no way for me to enter the voucher number in ahead of time.
After leaving upset with no promise of any resolutionother than for us to save her voucher for next time I contacted the school that we purchased it from. Come to find out they had to pay 60% of the cost in order to get the Boucher in the first place. So this was no charitable donation made by iFly and we essentially paid 140% plus tip plus upgrades.
Within an hour the school of administrator here went down and had a talk with the manager who only then relented to give us a refund on our card.
Bottom line is that the experience is fun but very very expensive. If you're going in with the group and have about your be sure to call them well in advance or you will likely end up...
