Response to owner's comment on 2/2/23 on my review:
I have the receipt from Doordash ordering keema naan on 1/18/21, based on which I wrote the initial review and would be able to happily provide you with a copy. Secondly, I didn't say that you actually used chicken nuggets, I described what I thought your version of Chicken 65 tasted like. I'm sure your cook is reputable but anyone well versed in Indian cuisine would likely share my sentiments about Chicken 65, it's a staple dish in south Indian cuisine and not one that has many "variations".
Review: The positive reviews must be from people who have never had Indian food (or these dishes) anywhere else. I have ordered a number of items from here, different times. As an Indian who has grown up eating and has eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants, I was mortified by how bad the food tasted here. Probably in my top 3 of worst Indian restaurants I've ever had.
Their version of Chicken 65 was a horrific, Pepto bismol looking curry with chicken nuggets and onions thrown in. Anyone who has ever had the actual dish knows it's a deep red, fried/dry prepared dish with chillis. If I didn't know what I was ordering....I wouldn't have even guessed that Chicken 65 was what they were trying to create.
The keema naan was horribly undercooked, completely gooey and doughy, and the chicken had a bad smell. Unfortunately, he had to throw it away after one bite.
The chicken biryani, though a hefty portion, was pretty bland. The chicken was precooked separately and just added to the rice, instead of cooked with the rice as biryani is typically made. There was really no distinct flavor so this was another disappointing dish.
This place is an insult to Indian food. My tip to the cooks....perhaps try the actual, authentic versions of these dishes before attempting what you "think"...
Read more5 stars is not enough to show how amazing Bombay Wala of India is! I try to try and support a variety of restaurants, especially now, but ended up getting takeout from here twice in a row, in the same week, because it was just THAT amazing. Prices are incredibly reasonable and affordable: the lunch special of paneer tikka masala is a MUST. The portions are generous (I get 2 meals out of one lunch order + half an order of naan per meal), the aromatics of the plentiful spices hits you right away, and it's just seasoned so perfectly that it tastes homemade. I've found a couple pieces of whole spices (ex. cardamom pod, clove) and you can tell that everything isnmad with care. The cheese naan is flaky, light, and the perfect amount of slightly sweet to be absolutely addictive. It's phenomenal! The samosas are good, better than most places, but don't stand out compared to the other things we've tried so far. Both times so far the owner has sent us a small order of 3 gulab jamun, and they've completely changed my opinion of gulab jamun. I used to be kind of lukewarm on them, but these are delicious.
I definitely want to try more things here, though it'll be hard to stop reordering the paneer! If you're in any doubt of where to go for indian food in the area, choose this place. The flavor and prices are both...
Read more(Uber eats order) I ordered panner tikka masala and garlic Naan. And what I received was anything but panner tikka masala :(
Tikka masala is supposed to be "SPICY". What i received was sweet and tangy! I couldn't believe that an Indian restraunt got tikka masala wrong. What they gave me is closer to panner butter masala.
And even then, the panner cubes were not even grilled. They just tossed big chunks of raw panner in the gravy. They tasted super bland. There wasn't a single other vegetable in the curry. Just paneer + gravy and that's it.
The Naan was not bad, but it was way too soggy. Overall, it was a sloppy and lazy job for a $17 curry and $6 naan. The taste and sincerely no where matches the price. They did give me free gulabjamun, but it cannot change the fact that i couldnt enjoy my main dish :( Utterly disappointed.
Update: I just ate their free gulabjamun. Wow, i think it's the worst I ever ate in my entire life. I suspect they added food color to it, which, if they did, was absolutely unnecessary. So, I am just changing my review from 2 star to 1 star.
My review is 1 star because of (i) how badly they screwed up everything, (ii) no effort put into making food despite $17 price, and (iii) I don't understand why they have 4+...
