Multiple portions reviewed - I have always received excellent treatment at the ER for either me or my children. Had to visit recently for one of my children and received very quick, caring, concerned care from triage to the nurses to the PAs who took care of us.
I also see my regular physician (PCP) via their network at the South Toledo Internal Medicine clinic on Glenwood. They've recently moved into a new building, which I don't like. In my view it is too similar to a hospital setting. When I visit my doctor, I like it to be in a more intimate environment and not a hospital setting which makes me think of catching the flu and other stuff that people all around me may have. Also don't like all the shuffling.
I like my regular doctor and the PAs I have seen however at the clinic.
Would give UTMC 5 stars except they have a low level of customer service in my view from the support staff. All medical professionals I've encountered are very good. However, the staff/front office of nearly every specialty/group, along with registration desk/checkin/check out personnel, almost all of them are rather rude and need some training in customer service or to be fired. They are very unprofessional and talk too much to each other and gossip and sound like they have attitude problems, which is the reason behind the lack of a star. Not all of them are this way, but literally it seems 9 out of 10 of them are. When you call they are rude and act like they don't want to talk to you and want you to hurry up and get off the phone. They rarely even say their name when they answer the phone, which is phone customer service etiquette 101. I know it is hard to hire a good quality employee at lower level/lower paid positions, but UTMC is a state employer and IMO they need to ensure they have a higher quality staff or get rid of those that aren't. Review made after just calling the South Toledo Internist group to ask that a refill be sent for my fast action asthma inhaler. I asked if it could be sent to the pharmacy prior to noon. The representative just basically said it wouldn't since my doctor was not in this morning and won't be in until the afternoon. I told the lady that I often see a PA on staff there as well and to ask the PA to send it in. This is an asthma inhaler and I was having trouble breathing. Showed an extreme lack of care and lack of professionalism. She finally just came back and said "it will be sent" and didn't say if it would be in the morning or not. If I were her boss I'd probably discipline her. Going to also send a recommendation for customer service training to UTMC executives/management as I know people in that level at UTMC. Reps never know who they are speaking with and it would behoove them to treat all public with respect and professionalism and care, since they work for a healthcare facility and people's health and lives are at stake at times with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst of all, Iād like to thank Dr. Tang for pressing to get my surgery done in enough time. I had an hiatal Hernia surgery done two days ago my body is taking a while to go back to normal normal enough for me to go home, but I was deathly afraid of staying here overnight due to the bad reviews however, being here with such a length time on the sixth floor, I have had the best conversations the Best care and the most considerate team working day and night to make sure that I can walk eat drink and make sure I can go home on time again for Gastro as a surgeon Dr. Tang is the best. Heās very informative and let you know how everythingās is going every step of the way his assistant Brianna is also amazing and will make sure that youāre at your appointment and all times And sheās also very considerate towards me as to my time window. I had in place to be able and available to have the surgery Then the day of surgery, the surgical team was super informative, kind and walked me through every part of what was going to happen then getting put into a room where the first friendly face that I saw was Vincent on the sixth floor, and then followed by Damon, Merlin, Liz Faith, and The physical therapy team to help me get walking calling to get a good meal plan. They brought me up just what I wanted. I have been in six different states in this wonderful United States of America and this is the best care Iāve received. Iāve received in a hospital all my life I strongly suggest you ask a lot of questions so you feel comfortable and then give them a chance in your care the next time youāre ready to get a surgery I can tell you my experience has been phenomenal. Thanks again to Merlin Damon and Vincent for all the that I received and the laughās five stars.šŖš½šš¤š·š¤

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in ER last night. It was likely my worst experience in an ER due to the lack of compassion & inaction by staff.
I had major food poisoning where I was throwing up a lot, panting heavily, & groaning constantly. I had a bad headache & diarrhea, & I was very weak. I was miserable.
Issues:
While on a gurney waiting for a room, I threw up on myself. It probably went onto the gurney & the floor. A female staff member saw it & was grossed out. She loudly commented how maintenance would have to clean that up. The implication was that she certainly wasnāt going to do it.
Once in a room, due to my dehydration, a female staff member couldnāt find a vein. I canāt fault her for that, but usually another employee would be located to try again. It took a good 2+ hours for anyone else to come try. During that time, I was still panting & moaning. When a guy came who was able to find a vein, liquids were finally pumped into me including morphine. It didnāt take much time after that that I felt so much better, & I stopped panting & moaning. I was able to open my eyes & talk which had been difficult. If this man had only been brought in much sooner, Iād have been feeling so much better.
It took the doctor 2+ hours to see me initially.
He ordered a CT scan, & that took another 2+ hours before they got that done.
In total, I was there around 6 hours.
Iām confident had I gone to Bay Park that I would have been taken care of much sooner & with more compassion. Iāve had to go there a handful of times, & they always took good care of me in ER. I probably would have been out of there in 3...
