Looks like a few not so bright bunch of people have shopped here and it shows in the lower rated reviews.
Frankly, this is one of the larger asian grocery stores I've been to. They. Have. A lot. It varies from packages of ramen, assorted noodles, teas, so much sauce.... even Indian flavors, candies, a freezer section, a produce section, and much more!
I take no issue with the prices here like some of the other people seem to decry over. Example: I actually came here because none of the other places in a 10 mile radius of Centereach had bulgogi sauce. The very friendly lady took my call and answered professionally. The other places I called just answered by saying "Hi" or some other variant - big LOL. I'm not joking about that either.
So the lady answers the phone by saying the name of the store. Excellent, as it should be done! I ask about the bulgogi and she says they have it. When I arrive, she pointed out the area down to the middle of the isle where it was. I was expecting maybe 16oz for around $3-5. I got a medium to large sized container of the stuff for $5 and change.
Believe me when I say, the 4.5 out of 5 rating is well earned....
Read moreI am an American born consumer, with typically an American type diet, so it is difficult to describe what an Asian grocery should aspire to. But what I will say, is that I searched high and low for a specific food product, which I could not locate elsewhere, but easily food it at Oriental Groceries. The item i wanted is white Miso paste. Now only did I find this item, but it is of organic sourcing, and there is also red miso paste. Besides which, I found buckwheat soba noodles, and Japanese udon noodles, and a rarity for most food stores, I found a large container of roasted sesame seeds. The staff is real helpful and pleasant, the store is amply filled, everything is accessible, and there are many fresh choices of Asian style produce and products, along with many frozen choices. So yes, the store is a good find, and a treasure for lovers of Asian sourced...
Read moreI give it 5 stars because it's the only Asian grocery store that's convenient to get to if you live in Central Suffolk County. It's easier to come here to get rice, sauces, etc. I absolutely LOVE the fresh baby bok choys. They are tender, clean and beautiful. Packaged so nicely and delicious every time! I also love that I can find Tonkatsu sauce, which is not normally found in stores. A 25 pound bag of Thai Jasmine rice is only $26. You can't go wrong. Look for this place behind Burger King on Nesconset Hwy in Stonybrook. Once you're there you might as well go to the strip of places on the side street (Stonybrook Rd) for a bite to eat (Red Tiger Dumpling House, Splendid Noodle (homemade...
