Rocketship Park — Attraction in Town of Brookhaven

This is a great park for local kids in port Jeff but you have to pay for parking at expensive town meters. If you are visiting the town it's worth the parking fee because it's walking distance to town but otherwise kids can have fun elsewhere for free. Make sure you pay attention, the parking signs are small. You have to scan the bar code and pay by card on your phone. There are quite a few nice restaurants in the area, ice cream, candy apples and it's in walking distance to the ferry. I'm not sure if there is an hour limit on the meters but they end at 8pm and include Sundays. The park itself is very nice. Adaptive swings, bridges and slides, picnic tables. Unfortunately we got quite a few kids with pretty foul mouths. Thankfully my grandson didn't seem to notice. Also people brought dogs in even though the sign says no dogs. I would guess because of allergies. But it made a guy upset. We hadn't noticed the dogs but he was noticeable because he was pretty angry and vocal. So 5 for the park and eating places around it. 1 for the price of parking and the people we experienced. Overall we ignored the people and just enjoyed ourselves. Years ago my parents bought my brothers and sister here when we were much younger and sand was here. The year's have passed...and the newer upgrades look wonderful and safer for our next generation of children. "My nephew's 4 & 7 played, climbed (on playground equipment), swing across monkey bars, up & down the slides and still ran around the circle ride. We might have stayed about 2 - 3 hours, but the boys were rested when bedtime came. Thank-you Port Jefferson Villege for still keeping our neighbor park, basketball courts, new shade building with picnic tables inside and non-heated benches for our sitting is excellent". Oh! And you have quite a few benches around for ALL the different families (Grandparents; Older Aunty like myself who is walking with a cane that likes the seat) that may come by too. The folks who live in Pory Jefferson have a winner for little kids in Rocketship Park.

There are lots of space themed things for the young 'uns to climb on and they are protected by fencing so that the banks from the nearby tennis courts wont be pounding into their area like asteroids.

Get it...space park...astroids... never mind.

There is a public bathroom nearby that is not the cleanest, but it will do. There are also some local places nearby for snacks, treats and window shopping.

Parking can be hard on the weekends...so prepare to search for a landing pad. See...I did it again...more space themed humor.

There are signs saying it's only for the locals. So you MIGHT have to show ID if asked by interstellar police.
