Tried to go running here while I'm in town for work based on others' reviews. This is the worst park I've ever been in and is absolutely not appropriate for running. The trails are sand and river rock (not gravel) so a sprained ankle is almost guaranteed. The trail map at the entrance to the park shows 2 easy to follow and clearly marked trails with a nice system of color coded blazes to guide the way.... The reality is a spider web of criss crossing trails all marked with identical blue or orange blazes or totally unmarked. Many of them are just small side loops that come right back to the main trail, while others simply dead end in a garbage pile or a clearing... So in short the trail map is garbage. Even with all the detours of figuring out the trails, I only ran 1.6 miles according to my GPS which isn't even a workout, so the distances were wrong too.
And to top it all off, people were smoking weed on the trail in 2 places!
If you want to walk a very short distance and/or smoke weed then maybe this park is for you.....

So many side trails, evidence of ATV and dirt bikes have ripped up sections, painted rocks littering the lawn and the trails, unleashed dogs and homeless living in it. Little effort of dog walkers of curbing dogs. County appears to have left upkeep of park to the historical society but they only concern themselves with the upkeep of the two buildings by the entrance. Evidence of fires and this will only get worse as new apartment complex goes up...

Negatives: Sometimes people ride their quads in there and the paths are narrow you could collide! Sometimes during summer, you get bit by bugs or mosquitoes! Make sure to put lavender a d tea tree oil on yourself for a natural insect repellent. It gets slippery when the leaves fall so be careful going up or...
