Not sure why, but everytime I go to Costco in Nanuet, I leave there with aggravating feelings of having experienced "insult to injury". I travel a great distance to get there, vy w crazy and inconsiderate drivers for a parking space, shop the maze from outside to inside of the store again w crazy and off times inconsiderate shopping cart drivers, heaven help me if I try to return bottles to the recycling machines, which seem to always be lined with others doing the same thing, and always it seems to stop working after my first few bottles are put in, then the job of finding some poor unsuspecting, uninterested worker, to stop what they are doing, to come help you, which they oft times show their discontent/dislike of having to do. They come and only shake the machine, because they tell you that has to happen first before they can actually empty the machine, so after a few more bottles can be put in again, lo and behold the cycle begins again. I usually have to make another trip back to the car to put back the bottles that didn't fit in the machine. Then back to fight through the system of inside the belly of the whale. I typically have to find an opening to dart through the line of folks coming out of the store to go inside on the other side and maneuver through the maze of the store, spend over an hour or two shopping for multiples that hopefully will last me several months so I don't have to go through this negative experience again any time soon. After enduring undue rudeness and cattle pushing from many of the customers as well as from some of the workers, pay the exorbitant prices for multiples, in which, yes, I could live without, I end up spending a small fortune ($600-900), am angry, and exhausted by the time I prepare to leave.
I usually end by declaring that i am making a personal boycott of this particular Costco store. Then, I finish that stressful shopping experience, go to the cafe for a hot dog or slice, which is the highlight of the trip and is an analogy of putting the bandaid on this experience. I take the ride home, share the battles of the trip with friends and family.
Then, after several months when the anger, bruising, and aggravating memory of the trip dissipates, I put on the armour and prepare to brave it again hoping the next time will be better. It never seems to change. So, there you go. I give my experience a 4 out of a possible 10. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting...
Read moreOn may 24th my partner and I entered the Costco in nanuet and were aggressively prevented from entering. The greeter quickly approached us and with his chest out and hands in our face said "YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED IN" After being startled and scaring my partner I asked "WHY?" He then told us in a loud voice for everyone around to hear. "No dogs allowed " i was carrying my 4 pound emotional support dog ( a tea cup chihuahua) . Which was in my arms. I immediately asked "WHY NOT? I'VE SEEN DOGS HERE BEFORE " He said " I don't care , no dogs allowed " then without any further provocation. Yelled out for a manager. Causing public alarm as well as a crowd to gather and ask why he wouldn't let us in . The crowd asked why was he not allowing us in and called for a manager again Saying "I DON'T NEED TO TALK TO YOU. I CALLED THE MANAGER " The manager came after a crowd began to gather further embarrassing us. The manager Nelson then came and told us we have to leave because no dogs were allowed. My partner who is an executive Costco member suffers from anxiety and now is afraid to go back alone. The manager Nelson then asked my partner for his card and proceeded to take photos of it on his personal phone. Then told us to leave or our card would be confiscated. Well I went back today which is may 26th at 12:54 and guess what I saw ? A dog inside. I followed the Asian couple with their dog then went over to while they sat there by the food area and asked them. "IS THAT A SERVICE DOG " the couple answered "NO" . I then asked the male exit greeter "WHY IS THAT DOG IN HERE ? his answer was . "I DONT KNOW, THEY PROBABLY LIED" . This dog can be seen on camera trying to jump on the food table where the couple sat to eat and would not stop barking. At one point they hit the dog on the head. We left there embarrassed and wondering why we were treated like that. Is it discrimination? because they saw two men walking in together with a puppy and decided they would pick on two gay men. The above statement/story can be easily verified by you Costco. By simply looking at your cameras for which I provided dates and tines . I also took pictures if you'd like to see them. I await your reply and...
Read moreCostco's used to be the BEST DEAL IN TOWN. Quality, Price, and Quantity were an unmatched trio that drove the masses there, Which no longer feels the same. Quality stands out alone, Price and Quantity have run into hiding!
Even before the increased tariff issue affecting stores, Costco's prices went up on what feels like Every Item in the store no less than $3.00. When tariffs hit, it went up again! The bag size and content portion has gotten smaller in the produce aisles especially. Honestly, the real deal for me is still the TIRE center & Quality of the gas they sell. P.S. even the gas prices have raised significantly they used to be .04-.07cents per gallon cheaper than the best deal in town, Now they are ONLY matched with the best deal in town. If the quality changes, there is no need to use that anymore, if at all. They got rid of my favorite item; Italian sausage at the concession stand saying something about covid-19 reasons AND YET SAUSAGE IS STILL SOLD AT COSTCO'S MEAT DEPT and btw the quantity of that has been reduced by half but the price is comparable to the old portion size making it more expensive per pound! And somehow in the meat dept. Ground beef prices have been raised peculiar; the weight per pound is the same $4.99, and the amount of pounds per package is around the same, yet the actual price is $5.00 higher per pkge??? Are you freezing the meat before weighing to add ice weight?
They never offer membership discounts, if for no other reason to those customers who have been members for decades. Bring a DECADE LOYALTY DISCOUNT! Every 10yrs represents $10 off. I've been with them about 27years, On every decade-long anniversary let my membership for that year only reflect that amount of discount. I.E. on 10 years membership get $10.00 off membership discount that year, on 20 yrs anniversary $20.00 off, etc. I feel it's the wonderful reputation and top Quality keeping the masses coming but no longer because of OVERALL price deal or Quantity-size. Shoprite is now filling those needs with their weekly specials. It's anyone's right to disagree but that don't make...
