ALDI — Attraction in Town of Geneseo

Prepare for sticker shock. It took me about 5 years of shopping there before I stopped thinking "is that all?" at the checkout. I still marvel at the quality of their merchandise and double money back when not satisfied. Occasionally I don't even bother because I support them! Crazy to feel like that with the money grubbing corporate behavior these days. To top it off, they pay very well in comparison with other grocery chains. Now, what you'll find. No national brand merchandise and a limited selection, but they carry a range of products from budget staples to gourmey treats. Stores are usually 3-4 aisles that won't gobble up your time or patience. Shopping carts come with a quarter deposit, and bring or buy your own bags. Earth friendly. I have shopped at aldi's for many years now and I enjoy their products and pricing. As for customer service they are lacking in this department big time. I understand the run things at bare minimum to keep prices down but when you have a sign out front that says new employment pay is like $13 or more I still expect my groceries to be treated with more care as you swipe the bar codes in the computer. I did it with a smile when I worked for Tops or much less the fact I worked in any department I was needed. So don't give me "I don't get paid to do that". Please do not throw my food into the cart and toss my cookies so that they are crumbs. Oh and I place them on the belt so you won't destroy my purchases and get somehow you always find away. Great store. I'd never been before this visit and was pleasantly surprised. It is a smaller scale grocery store with limited brand availability, so if you are looking for specific items or doing all of your shopping in one trip, Aldi may not be the place. But if you need to resupply with a few items and don't care about certain brands this is a great stop. They have amazing German chocolate brands that you can't find at Wegmans or Tops. The store was very clean and the employees were courteous and friendly! Also, the location is convenient as it is separate from the Geneseo shopping center and has its own dedicated parking.
