I came here a few days ago, the manager literally followed me the entire time. There were plenty of other people in the store even though it was close to closing time. But every single time I turned around the manager last was there watching me. I was getting quite irritated, I kept purposely trying to lose her by shifting my direction when out of her view just to make sure she really was following & watching me. There was absolutely no mistaking that She was. So after about a half hour of being stalked & feeling completely judged, harassed, & singled out, I decided to confront her. I asked her nicely if there was a reason she was following me & if there was a problem with the way I looked that she felt the need to choose me to stalk during my entire shopping visit & not anybody else in the store. She was not smiling at all, she had a stupid dumbfounded look on her face, & said no, that she was training..& I cut her off & said "training who? Ur the only person I see every time I scan my area, ur not training anybody, is there a reason ur following me & nobody else? Do I look like I need to be watched? Is it my clothes? Do I have the description of what a thief might look like? I said that I probably had more $ to spend in that store than any other person there, which between me & my fiance is probably a true statement seeing as though we came there with the intent to spend a lot having a bit of extra $ in our pockets that day. She just kept tripping over her words with bugged out eyes & just tried to deny the obvious. I've NEVER felt so uncomfortable shopping in ANY other place in my life! & Remember, this was the MANAGER! Who in the world hired this lady let alone gave her a manager position!? I shop at the location in Green Bay frequently & I have NEVER been treated like the way I was at the Appleton location! In Green Bay they are helpful & there for u when needed. Even when I'm ALONE in the store, I'm not stalked at all, I'm free to shop like everyone else, & like I should be as a paying customer. If anyone who looks like a normal human being wants to go buy crafts I strongly suggest not to go to the Appleton hobby lobby, I'll NEVER go there again, not ever. I can't believe this lady is even manager. I think she is judgemental, overly obvious, rude, & not well spoken at all, she doesn't have a friendly demeanor & she looks strung out with her big blood shot eyes all bugged out, not welcoming in any way. She looked fearful when I confronted her & had nothing to say about the way I felt & was treated, how she made me feel while trying to shop like everyone else. I hope she gets fired, or at least is made to take a training course or something. Because within a half hour she lost 2 good paying customers to the hobby lobby stores, & I'm sure there's many more before me. I love hobby lobby, been going there for several years, I've spent hours in the green Bay location & enjoyed myself Everytime & spent lots & lots of money. But Appleton will never get another cent from me or my fiance or anyone I know & have told about my experience, & now after this review I'm sure there will be more people who will avoid going to this location. Sorry about the bad review, but it's not my fault, it's that manager who is to blame & I can't remember her name but she had brown hair with a long type of braid to the side. She never smiled, & her eyes like I mentioned before were bugged out & bloodshot. She either looks to need a nap or to lay off the caffeine or whatever else...
Read moreI never thought the day would come when I wrote a bad review for Hobby Lobby, but here we are, I took a hand drawn sketch of one of my cars to the Appleton location Mar 8 for framing and matting, was told it could take 2 weeks, which was already ridiculous considering the frame was off the shelf, and last time I had one done they did it while I waited, anyway, I received a call Mar 21 (yesterday) that it was complete. Fast forward to today, Mar 22, I arrived at the store and went to the framing dept. Nobody was at the desk so I rang the bell for service, as the sign suggested, I was greeted with a not so friendly 'COMING" which already set the stage for me, I've managed people for 30 years and I could already tell customer service was NOT this persons forte. Anyway, Soon after I disturbed whatever she wasnt doing in the backroom, she informed me I wasn't in their system, and then the audacity to ask if I'm sure its the right store....serious? I didn't realize there were multiple locations in Appleton, whcih there isn't. Basically told me sorry we have nothing, which was unacceptable to me, especiqlly since this piece means alot to me, between the artist and my car. Si I told her what it was and magically it was there, then told me they had spelled my name wrong after she made me feel like an idiot. She also insisted on walking it up to the cashier and was treying some very non heartfelt apology, probably figuring out that I was not impressed, and even she might have realized her customer service skills suck. I actually had to tell her to stop talking as I was getting extremely frustrated. She picked the slowest cashier (if thats possible, probably my biggest beef with hobby lobby is the SLOWEST registers in the world) I am pleased with the work, but Hobby Lobby has just seen the last dollar from my wallet. SOmeone needs to teach them people skills or relocate them to a position that doesnt deal with the public. I would have loved to talked to a manager before I left, but she my blood pressure boiling so hot it probably would have been...
Read moreI like to support locals instead of going directly to Amazon but I think it's time hobby lobby is left behind with Amazon taking over in my heart. Been in the area for 30 years too. It's the only store to find some art needs but I can find same and more on Amazon.
Why am I saying this? I've worked 5 years of retail and I know it's awful but that doesn't mean I should run into everyone here being incredibly rude.
I visit the art department. I ask for help on an item that requires manager assistance. The employee snowls at me that she needs to call the manager. Including she wanted to not even help in the first place. 21 minutes go by. Nobody asks if I need any additional help. Manager finally shows up. Also rude and annoyed he had to help with this. I purchased the item regardless. But on our way to the register I try for small talk. He just grunts. So I give him the reality.
As the manager is dropping off the item at the cashier I tell him he could have been more polite with his customer. His employees didn't have to roll their eyes when I asked for help. And he certainly should have asked if I needed anything else before leaving the art area as he could have made more money.
I finally point out that he is an example why this store will be obsolete as amazon expands its structure. Everyone here waiting at these registers could save 25% from your prices but we chose to come here. We are trying to help you keep your microwave dinner paying manager job. He needs to open his eyes before he ends up at Walmart as a stock boy.
I thanked him for walking me up to the register with these security marked COLORED PENCILS. And wished him a great holiday.
I turned to the nicest cashier I have ever met and paid then left to write this and to send this to Twitter.
Not sure why the cashier was so nice, was this manager really not...
