Update. 4/22/25 I have had to change my rating from four stars to one after our latest experience.
We have not been to this location in a while because the last time that we went before just now, was when the last insidious film came out. And we were plagued the entire showing by an obnoxious group of people that would not shut up, would not get off their phones, one even took a phone call.
We brought that to the attention of the manager, and they assured us that it would be taken care of, but never asked them to leave once.
And all he did was give us one voucher to make up for the night, and the two tickets that we bought. Smdh. A pitiful apology, and clearly wasn't meant because here we are yet again the next visit with a terrible experience.
So we went to the 9:20 showing of Minecraft. I realize it's member Tuesday but that doesn't mean that customer service should be crap.
We had to wait about 4 or 5 minutes for someone to even show up at the snack counter.
Popcorn was not fresh. Even remotely. The employee, I want to say his name was Dylan or Darren. Looked gross quite frankly, his hair was an absolute mess, he looked extremely greasy including his hair. And he was rude for absolutely no reason, basically snapping at us while taking our order.
Clearly not having a good day or doesn't like his job, probably should go home then.
Furthermore we find out that the member popcorn, a large popcorn and large soda that used to be roughly 12 bucks, is now more like 16 bucks.
I know for a fact that this popcorn and soda don't cost them diddly. So we shell out something like $17 after tax. For stale popcorn. And bad service.
We go to watch the movie, and the entire time, the picture is flickering in and out. Like bright and dim. That should not be happening. That's either somebody not doing their job in the projection room, or you have a faulty projector and it needs to be maintained and taken out of rotation until it's fixed.
So the quality was crap as well.
I get up halfway through the film, to go get a refill on our overcharged popcorn and drink, and they've shut down the concession stand which I've been told by management before is not supposed to be shut down until at least 30 minutes before the last movie is done.
There was almost an entire hour left of the film when I went out there.
So we got completely ripped off on our concessions.
It's these kind of experiences that are killing the theater industry, not the lack of people wanting to come.
I will most certainly be contacting corporate about this.
I have come here since I was very little, and have tons of great memories here and it is absolutely heartbreaking to see how poor this place is run nowadays.
The entire staff should be ashamed of themselves tonight.
Expect to hear from corporate, because they can expect to hear from me, I don't think Greg Marcus would find this very amusing, much less acceptable. Great theater, been coming here since I was little it's awesome that it's connected to funset, great staff, the one thing I would change is that I feel like a lot of the menu prices are a bit pricey even when they're doing their promotions like you almost have to go when they're having a special promotion day for it to be affordable, I mean who's dropping $20 on popcorn for two people? That's ridiculous. Lower them concession prices just a little bit and it would be five stars. Granted I realized covet is still kind of affecting businesses and whatnot particularly the movie industry so I guess if it was ever justifiable it's more justifiable...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePure bias and discrimination! Went here recently to watch Creed 3 with my fiancee for a date night and experienced what I call pure discrimination. First off, their " system" was down so we couldn't use our rewards cards for the tickets or concession stand which is understandable, so they told us to write down our name and number and they would put the rewards points on when the system was back running, I'll touch back on this later. Next,as we made our way to the concession stand we noticed a customer at one of the registers being helped but it was three employees(2 white guys and a Latino) just standing at one of the other ones without asking us if we needed help, so as were approaching the register they all walked away so we walked back to wait in the other line thinking they were probably not supposed to be on the register or something but the moment a few White people came behind us, one of the guys named Alex comes right up to the register and tells the people he's open and looks directly at me and laughed. I was so upset but didn't react right away because it's obvious he is a minor or at least under 18 I presume, so I get his name and let the manager know what he did and she said absolutely nothing but "Call corporate and do what you gotta do" and walked away. After the movie was over I went back up to the front desk and asked if the system was back up cause I needed my receipt to leave a review on their website and was told no, even as I watched her hand new people buying tickets their receipts. All in all, I will not be back to this theater or any Marcus Theaters for that matter, if being discriminated against is no big deal for a company I'll keep my money and watch it at home on Amazon, I advise other POC to do the same because we are not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the second time I come to this theater and feel like Iām being discriminated against. I walk in to buy pretzel bites because I enjoy the food. A lady named Elen and I believe someone named Shaun walked up to me after I payed for my food and they asked what I was doing after they clearly have been watching me and saw I was waiting for my food. I was the only one who was approached in the lobby which left me dumbfounded. Why was I the only one who was approached? Idk maybe because Iām Hispanic and Elen is afraid that Iām trying to sneak into the movie theater? When I walked to the exit after my food was given to me I asked them what I did wrong? Was I not able to buy food? Why did they only come up to me? They gave me some ridiculous answer about needing to know where everyone is going in the movie theater. When fun set is open and others were walking with ease without being stopped. I could have been going there also, etc. I told them that they should at least wait for someone to try and sneak into a movie theater before assuming thatās whatās going on, that I felt like they were discriminating against me as they clearly have been watching me since I stepped in and only approached me. They laughed in my face and sarcastically told me to enjoy my food walking away⦠I understand everyone has a job to do but this situation was not handled professionally and in my eyes felt discriminative, Iām not one to throw the race card but this sure feels like the context of their judgement. Karenā¦Iām sorry I mean Elen, I hope you handle situations differently and a little bit more...
