OMGGGGG. I wish Wegmans was a religion. Or a cult. I don't care. I'd join it. I'd run it. This place is the Louve of grocery stores. It's items beautifully on display for me to explore and admire (sometimes touch! Shhhh) Every shopping cart perfectly stacked upon entrance. Fitting smoothly in palm of my hands. The slow rumbled of the polish brown floors against the carts non - squeaky wheels. As I step closer to the entrance I hear bells and chimes thinking, 'am I in Heaven?' Then, there is it. I round the corner, the big fans blasting my body and I cross the threshold. Produce. And not a single piece out of place. Apples line the bins in front of me. Gala, green, yellow and ones I've never hear of. Perfectly smooth melons just waiting for my hands to grasp them. Veggies pouring out from their baskets. Water falls on carrot tops caress my arms and I pass. My arms aren't big enough. Oh, what's that smell? Are those freshly picked flowers over there. Am I at Grandma's house? The rumble of the cart wheels bring me back to earth. That beautiful morning bouquet is screaming for me to take it home. Giant sunflowers stare me down with their deep dark centers dragging me in like my first crush. The kind older lady floats over to help me wrap them up. Delicately placing them in my basket. I promise not to squish them. The cart guides me over to the deli sections. I need not push it. Filling my basket with fresh bagels, breads, and mega chocolate chunk cookies. I tell myself, 'I'll share the cookies' after I've filled my basket I run back for more cookies 'no you won't you monster' My stomach knows me so well. Deep voices come out from a heavy black door. Meat. Meat on meat on meat. Prepped and portioned perfectly. No having to call dad this time. I know my meat will be seasoned and cooked to specs. Wegmans wrote it out for me. If breads, produce and meat are not your thing. It's ok, the dairy section is next. Cheese from balls to the walls. I think there's and song about that. Melting cheese, soft cheese, cheese flavor cheese. Cheese that looks like jesus (this really is heaven). A plump lady with an apron offers me a sample. Of course I want that sample. I try not to seem to excited. It's something local and delicious. She let's me take and second piece. Says she won't tell a soul. Dairy as a food group takes its place on the top shelf of my small 2 tiered cart. Making nice with the breads. A mom rushes by me with as cart full of snacks and drinks and her kids in tow. Snacks! Chips! How could I forget. No netflix binge is complete without it. Their house brands chips and Gatorade rival any other name brand out there. Nuts precariously balance on the top of my cart. It now resembles a small moving mountain. I hear a faint whimper behind me. I step aside to let someone pass but alas. No one is behind me. I continue on my journey. Again, a whimper. I search around. Perhaps it's it's a joke. Again! There. gasp it's my pocket book. My mind is catching up with my stomach. And my guilt sets in and this beautiful mountain looms over me. It is time. The registers. Each isle designed to better serve you. No candy for kids. handicapped for more space and accessibility. Easy scan for quick trips. My mountain is going to take a novice. I put feelers out on the cashiers. I get a vibe from a younger one in a blue polo. I stroll up with my catch. His face lights up. 'Find everything today' 'yes' I reply. He has no idea how fulfilling this experience has been. *beep *beep *beep like a heart monitor. On a beautifully run machine. He finishes the food, gently places the flowers back on top. '$225' I don't even care. I punch in my shoppers club number, slid my card smoothly in to the slot. It's done. I made it. Wegmans, thank you. For being everything I've need in my life. Friend, family and foe (only on the wallet). I'll see...

Read moreI needed a pet prescription that was over $153.00 through the vet's office. After spending an inordinate part of the afternoon trying to source it for less through various online vendors, the best I could do was around $75. A friend suggested I try Wegman's, which at first seemed bizarre, but then I figured I'd have nothing to lose. To my surprise, the pharmacist (Ann) was very polite, not condescending as I thought I might experience since this med was for a pet, not a human. She was exceedingly supportive and said she could look to see if they carried it for pets. They in fact did, and she then mentioned that I might do better on the price by checking the cost on line through "goodrx.com," which they would accept. Can you believe $18.48?!!! Then, as I briefly explained the tribulations of this ordeal, Tara (at the counter) handed me a bouquet of autumn flowers to help take the 'sting' out of my day as she wished me well with my pet! All I can say is, Wegman's continues to set the bar as the gold standard for customer service in addition to being the most comprehensive, consumer-wellness-focused supermarket in the country. If I ever have to move, my first question will be: "Is there a...
