The Greek Pie Factory — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

GREECE 🇬🇷 Excerpt from Eat the World NYC: If you are cruising east down the Sunrise Highway just outside of New York City, it is not hard to find simple Greek fare. Plug that into Google Maps and an array of options are presented. But there is one small gem that stands out from the diners and gyro spots, located on a corner just one block south of the thoroughfare.

What also stands out is the story of its owners, more recent arrivals than many Greeks in New York. The husband and wife who own the shop left Greece during the economic crisis that began ten years ago, leaving behind their restaurant in the north of the country that they had run for 25 years.

After a few years in their new country, the couple decided to use their skills again and The Greek Pie Factory was born in June 2015. Although everything here is fresh and made daily, thankfully they put the reference at what they are best at right...

I walked in on a whim as I was passing by and took home a menu. This is not am eat in establishment although they do have 2 picnic tables outside. I wound up ordering chicken souvlaki dinner, lemon chicken dinner, lamb gyro on pita and a lamb/beef gyro platter. We picked it up. All the food was fantastic! The lemon chicken could have had more lemon but we had rice that was excellent, lemon potatoes the best I've had and small salads very tasty! We then finished it off with a baclava and bougusta both delicious. I am not Greek but my family all loved their meals. And the price...

Diamond in the not so rough burbs of the Queens/Nassau border. Given a choice I could eat Mediterranean food everyday. The Greek Pie Factory is now on the list of where to get it. I typically drive to Bayside and Astoria to get really great Greek food... The GP Factory has just saved me miles and gallons of fuel.
