When I started searching for a wedding tux I realized right away that the big brand stores were going to be a disappointment; I didn't want to go with something that was "in style" with a low waist and tight-legged pants that ended at the base of the calf to show off mismatched socks. I also wanted a white jacket with black pants, which meant 1) it isn't by definition a Tuxedo anymore, but that isn't really relevant to this review and 2) I would have approx. 2 choices at any rental place I could find. I soon concluded that I would be buying this thing, and I would be spending some money on it so I wanted it done right. Before I found Giorgenti I was looking into some of the chains which say they can make you a custom suit or tux for a reasonable amount, but the feedback I was gathering led me to believe the finished product might not be that much better than an off-the-rack tux. I found Giorgenti and made an appointment with Alejandro to go over my options and what my vision was. Best decision I could have made. Alejandro took the time to explain the different options in color, cloth, styles and patterns etc. He was able to make recommendations based off what I had in mind and how I wanted it to fit, which like I said was not going to be an easy task since I was pretty set on what I wanted. He was even able to take a vintage set of pants I had from an old suit and copy them for the tux, and I don't mean he just threw a slightly wider leg on standard black pants; believe me I was a little skeptical at first of how custom the work would come out in the end. The measurements took a good 20 or so minutes at the first meeting, and he did followup measurements during production to make sure everything was perfect. Production took a little over a month, and thats one thing I wanted to bring up here for your benefit; don't wait till the last minute! My wedding was just after prom season, and I left just barely enough time to get everything done on schedule. They pulled it off, but there's no point stressing yourself out. Leave the extra time. In the end, I was extremely happy with the final product. Any doubts I had about how "custom" a custom suit could be or if its "worth it" were gone once I tried it on. I have to apologize to Alejandro for two things; the first is the delay in writing this review, and for that I apologize also to anyone who may have been swayed to Giorgenti by this review and would up with a subpar tux as a result. Sorry. The second is doubting him when he didn't want to make the pockets functioning. The way I see it, if the pockets are there they're going to function! He was right though, he told me he didn't want me putting things in them and I promised I wouldn't, then I went and dropped my keys in there and couldn't find them for three days. I'm not sorry for going with the skinny tie though, I tried the large and skinny and had to go with the skinny in the end. I got many complements on my tux from Giorgenti, and plan on trying to wear it whenever I can get away with it. I'll be going to them for my future custom clothing needs as well. Thanks again for all...
Read moreI have always had a hard time finding clothes to accentuate my physical attributes, as a fitness/ body building enthusiast, I have always been tough to fit correctly. My arm over shoulder measurement more than doubles my waist line. For years, I continued to purchase suits from department stores, mens clothing stores, etc- spending more on alterations than the actual suits- and still never looking as I should. Wearing a 52 coat and a 33 waist, these stores would sell me a suit with pants that came with the 52 blazer ( 40+ inch waist), and alter them expecting the pants to look right. They never did. ( Neither did the blazers as the midsection was meant for an individual who is over weight.) I found Janine Giorgenti after my engagement, when I had decided to purchase a tux that was made for me, and only me. Custom- not custom tailored. Through word of mouth, and the reviews I read, she was the right choice by far. Now, after working with her, her reviews do not do her justice- she is BETTER than all of them. She is amazing. Previously, I would hate dressing up as the clothes made me look like I was over weight rather than trim and in shape. Putting on the tux she made for me for the first time was incredible. I never thought something would ever fit me like what you see on tv and on celebrities. I can not wait to wear my tux on my wedding day this July. ( I should also mention how special it was to sit down and pick every detail of my tux with her as I wanted it- from the buttons, to the stitching, lining, even the color underneath the lapel- you decide on everything. She is patient with you as you chose every detail making the tux or suit one of one - yours.)
Since then, Janine has worked with me on making custom clothes for work, events and every day wear. She is quick and easy to get in touch with at any time. I am able to send her a picture of something from anywhere and she will make it fitted to me and only me without coming in to see her- she has all my measurements saved. I no longer shop anywhere- if I find myself in a store and something catches my eye- Janine receives the picture or screen shot and very shortly after, the item is mine and to my physique.
I strongly suggest Janine Giorgenti. She is the best at what she does, personable and extremely accommodating. Do not waste your time...
Read moreBeing the Father of the Bride is an incredible honor that not everyone gets to experience. My daughter’s upcoming wedding in June has consumed much of our lives, in the best way possible. With most of the arrangements completed, it was time to think about, “What am I wearing to this event? A rental for a Saturday night Black Tie Optional affair was not an option. A few clicks on the internet brought me to several local clothiers as well as online services. Giorgenti New York was on the list, but who was thinking a custom tuxedo was even a possibility. After visiting the local stores I realized that this tuxedo was going to be an investment and quality mattered. I tried on off the rack tuxedos that ranged in price from $1000-$4000, I was less than impressed. I reached out to Janine from Giorgenti. Immediately, I knew that I had found a hidden treasure in Garden City. She explained her process and estimated cost of a custom made tuxedo; approximately $1500! The next day at Janine’s studio, I was warmly welcomed and full of anxiety. I had never done anything like this before. Janine got to know me as she measured from head to toe. Her precision in this process was unforgettable and I learned about her family’s history of making custom clothes. It was truly a remarkable experience and Janine made it fun. The anxiety rolled away as we looked at fabric swatches. She educated me on wool and what makes a high quality fabric. Janine guided me through the decisions of selecting the fabric, the lapel style, the lining of the jacket, the design of the shirt to coordinate, the bow tie and suspenders. No detail was too small. At no time did Janine pressure me or try to upsell me for things I did not want or need. For a moment, I doubted my decisions. Janine listened attentively and offered her professional opinion which allowed me to feel confident and excited about the tuxedo we designed. Janine worked with me for over an hour. Her knowledge and experience coupled with the personal attention, far exceeded my expectations. The wedding is quickly approaching and I’m excited about walking my daughter down the aisle; perfectly dressed for the...
