NuZen Spa — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

I've had an eyelash perm, a facial, a full bikini wax and a dip powder mani done here.

The eyelash perm was my first time and the woman that did the service was nice, but not very talkative during the appointment walking me thru the steps. I later realized she curled my bottom lashes instead of just my top ones. I also didnt like that she walked out of the room while my eyes were sealed shut.

The facial was wonderful and relaxing. I did the deep exfoliating facial and although the extractions hurt, my skin has never looked better. It was also the day after I got my booster and she was very careful with my arm.

The wax was the most unsanitary service out of the 4. First of all, soft wax should not be used on longer hairs and can irritate the skin if you go over it too many times. Hard wax is much better for the skin. Also, she did not use gloves and dipped the used stick back into the wax. I feel bad for the next person who uses that wax.

The dip powder manicure was wonderful. As someone who is notorious for messing up my nails before leaving the salon, this was worth the money in my opinion.

In all, I'll come back for some services but others I will not be...

Disappointing. I used to love coming here as the services were great. I recently had a gel manicure and gel pedicure done, and not even 2 days later the polish is chipping on both. What used to last me 2-3 weeks isn’t any longer. Not to mention I highly dislike having gel polish removed with an electric file, as each time this was done it got way too hot and hurt my nails. I usually love the massage as well, but the stones were way too hot and not set aside to cool enough (not to mention while the timer went off - she just kept the stone on my leg!) I recommend going elsewhere.

What can't be said about this place!? The atmosphere, the cleanliness, the professional and friendly staff, it's truly a wonderful salon. For places in this area and for this caliber of service, you'd expect to be grossly overcharged. Not here! The prices are fair and a few of the services are actually very low priced in comparison to other salons. I took my disabled sister here for her birthday. She and I got massages, manicures and full-service pedicures. They made her feel special and beautiful! Often, even in professional settings, people will not know how to treat disabled individuals. You treat them like people! Because that's who they are! I didn't have to explain anything or ask them to be gentle with her. They are extremely perceptive and intuitive professionals.
