I walked into pops close to 5:30. I looked around for a few mins and proceeded to make my purchase. I went to the register and Sophia checked me out. I had 4 bottles and she put 2 in one brown bag and the other 2 in another. I walked near the door and just as I opened the door, my shirt got caught on the handle and I struggled to hold my things. One of the bottles started to come out of the brown bag because I didn’t realize the bag was broken. I tried to hold it with my other arm but it ended up falling out and broke right in front of the store. While the door was still opened, Sophia started to shout in a very nasty way that they are not liable for anything that happens out of the store. I told her I was barley out the door and I even scratched my arm in the process. Not one person even asked if I was ok nor did they come to even help me as they saw the struggle. I explained the bag was ripped and Sophia told me that she didn’t force me to use the bag and I should have held it properly. She continued to tell me that they are not responsible. I asked to speak to the manager because there was glass all over and I didn’t want anyone getting hurt. Gary came over and as I was talking to him, Sophia stepped away from her register and interrupted my conversation. I asked her to get away from me as I was speaking to someone else. She continued to interrupt me and started instigating an argument. I asked her then to get out of my face as I felt threatened. She continued to be nasty. At that point , a young man named Jonathan stepped in front of her and told her to step away. Both Jonathan and Gary were nice enough to help me. They had called the owner and replaced the broken bottle. As for Sophia, I really hope they evaluate her behavior as an employee. She made the whole situation worse. Something that could have easily been resolved. You do not speak to customers like that. Horrible customer service and truly horrible attitude. I will not return to this establishment ever again...
Read moreGreat place for spirits of any kind. Large selection and variety. Prices are very reasonable as well. Staff are helpful and friendly. 2/2019 Pops was sold to new owners Unfortunately the new owners are totally out of touch with what made pops so great to begin with. They are putting in new fancy cabinets that nobody really cares about. All the fun about pops is gone. The vodka, gin, tequila sections are literally half of what they used to be. Also, bottle size selection is gone. All the fun cordials and liqueurs are behind the new fancy check out counter! What are you going to to do- stand there and squint to see the selection while people are in line thinking you cut them off? These are liquors that are fun impulse buys. I have no doubt that sales before and after their re-design have tanked. The yearly February wine sale is gone! I would go there to buy cases of wine every year- but no more. Signs everywhere saying they are lowering prices but who cares if you don’t have the selection anymore! They used to always have a line, now only one other person was there beside me. When I talked to my friends about how pops was no longer fun, they said they already stopped going and was shopping elsewhere. I hope the new owners get a clue before they run Pops...
Read moreI've been a customer at Pops for 5-6 years now, raving about the selection, honest knowledgeable staff and good prices, I have also brought in many other customers. As someone who buys a lot of wine, Pops always offered fair prices on allocated bottles of whiskey. New ownership decided not to honor those agreements and raised the price of a bottle I bought last year for $135 to $980 this year. I stayed very loyal throughout this year, when I could have purchased wine elsewhere sometimes even for better prices. To make matters worse, they have lost much of their knowledgeable staff. I am no...
