Shell Creek Park — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

This park is a well kept secret in the area. the place consists of three (3) separate playgrounds, two (2) swing sets, a very large sandbox, two (2) baseball diamonds, basketball court, tennis courts, sprinkler park, and as you can see from the map the place is surrounded by water, so you can go fishing.

There is plenty of parking, a clean set of bathrooms, and yet there is hardly anyone ever there.

A perfect place for the family to get lost...

Sights are bland, regulations are heavy, and not worth going out of your way to see. Place felt dead in ambiance with the lack of trails, the lifeless concrete paths, and the empty ball-courts.

No noteworthy memorials or statues, no art, and not even the bare minimum amount of nature necessary to escape the suburban hell surrounding it.

As a resident, I would be ashamed this was the only park in the area.

I grew up going to this park and now I love taking my children there. It's a fun, safe, open area right on the water with nice views of Long Beach, Island Park and Oceanside.
