It was with great anticipation that I returned to the newly renovated Cinema Arts Center in Huntington after the long 2 plus year shutdown due to Covid. I brought my my nephew with me and we were both very impressed with the renovations made to both the theater and the parking areas.
It was supposed to be a fun night with a double feature of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2&3 playing back to back. My Nephew and I never made it to the second movie due to countless technical difficulties and late starting times.
I can understand some minor issues and difficulties can occur from time to time, but what happened last night was ridiculous and unprofessional. From the late starting times to the multiple film projector malfunctions and poor sound quality the entire movie screening experience was ruined and frankly unacceptable!!!!
While I’m appreciative of the Cinema Arts Center continuing commitment to keep the retro horror film community alive with an outlet for fans of the genre to get together and have the opportunity to watch these classics on the big screen. I’m also a paying customer expecting a professional screening experience of these films that I can easily watch at home for free and on Friday night that just didn’t happen.
The Management and staff seem like good and caring people with the best of intentions of making the movie screening experience a fun and positive one, but something was very off last night and these miscues can’t continue to happen in the future.
I know they can and will do better, best of luck with your fall film...
Read moreA wonderful, no frills local gem in Huntington. I love going to see movies here. The film pickings are diverse, they schedule tons of special events and they offer a ton of vegetarian and vegan options in comparison to your typical, commercial movie theater. From a late night showing of Mandy (2018), to an extra special viewing of Frankenstein (1931 film) with Sara Karloff, Boris Karloff's daughter, there in the flesh to do a Q&A with the audience, to marathon watching this year's Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) nominees, CAC offers so much to their patrons. Not to mention a decent beer selection in the cafe that doesn't cost an arm and a leg! I have been, for going on two years now, a paying member of the theater and it is a contribution that I will happily continue to renew...
