I was really excited to visit The Farm Italy Restaurant & Bar, hoping for a slice of Italy right in my neighborhood. Instead, I got a slice of something that might have been pizza... in a past life. First off, the decor. I’m not sure if they were going for “authentic Italian” or “forgot we were decorating,” but it was a solid mix of both. The dim lighting made me feel like I was dining in a witness protection program, and the background music seemed to be an odd mix of accordion and techno—I'm still confused if I was supposed to dance or cry. The service? Let’s just say I spent more time waving at the waiter than I did waving goodbye to my appetite. When the food finally arrived, it felt like the pasta had been boiled in the tears of disappointed chefs. The “carbonara” was an intriguing blend of overcooked noodles and what I can only assume was an attempt at sauce. I think I found bacon in it, but it could have also been an old shoe. Hard to say. The pizza was a masterpiece—a masterpiece of confusion. The crust was reminiscent of cardboard, the cheese had the stretchiness of a rubber band, and the toppings looked like they were dropped from a very high altitude. I’m not sure what they did to that poor tomato sauce, but I’m convinced it must have wronged them in a past life. Dessert was the cherry on top of this culinary disaster. Literally, just a cherry. They called it “Tiramisu,” but I think it was just the remains of a cake that lost its will to live. I tried to ask the waiter if this was a joke, but they just smiled and said, “Enjoy!” By the end of the meal, I was left wondering if this was a restaurant or an elaborate prank. If you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience, keep looking. But if you’re in the mood for a mystery meal and a side of confusion, this is the place for you! Bon appétit? More like, bon appe-nope!

We celebrated my sister's birthday at The Farm and had a really nice experience. Vibe: It's a beautiful restaurant with some great artwork and a nice patio. The rooms and bar are a bit cavernous in my opinion, but still a comfortable space. Service: The service was good, but a bit green. Our waiter was very nice and personable but a bit disheveled and not the most organized. I think one would come to expect a little more from a restaurant like this, especially based on the prices. Food: You are immediately presented with a bowl of Parmesan Chunks - which I love. I stared with the Blood Orange Margarita (Fresno infused Don Julio blanco, lime, basil salt). The cocktail was good, but I wouldn't say in my top 10. Overall the food was very good. We started with the Tagliolini (coppa, cream, pecorino), the Arugula Salad (parmesan, walnut, lemon, olive oil) and Fritto Misto (calamari, artichoke, hot peppers, lemon, fra diavolo). My sisters ate the Taglionlini and said it was delicious and I had the Arugula Salad which was very good. It was a nice combination of flavors and I loved how they chopped and incorporated the walnuts into the salad. And we shared the Frito Misto. The Frito Misto was the most disappointing of the three items - it was pretty standard for a Frito Misto. For the mains we had Cacio e pepe (buccatini, cracked pepper, pecorino) and Branzino (filet, burro bianco, lemon, broccolini). The branzino was my favorite of the two - tender, moist and a nice bit of char. The pasta was a good, but a little dry in my opinion, even for Cacio e pepe. For dessert, we shared the small birthday dessert they gave us as we had a cake waiting for my sister at home. Overall - the experience was good and we would definitely go back. I was super excited to get to try this place out. While the ambiance is great, I unfortunately believe the food is overhyped. We got the tagliolini, the “sausage”, arugula salad, house bread, pappardelle, and the veal Milanese. I also got the gin and chamomile sour, which was nice. The best by far that we ate was the tagliolini appetizer, they were smart to have us sample it and we couldn’t help but order a full app for ourselves. It’s like a fried capellini ball you may find at a pizzeria deconstructed into a baked carbonara pasta dish. The “sausage” appetizer caught us off guard, because you really don’t get any actual sausage. It’s baked into a focaccia and topped with ricotta and honey. While it tasted good, we wanted a meat focused app to complement the cheesy pasta, but instead it was just more carbs and cheese. The arugula salad was a bit simple and underwhelming, but there was a decent amount of it. The house bread, although very Instagram worthy, was our least favorite. There was so much salt on it that we couldn’t eat it. The pappardelle I have no complaints. It was great. The veal Milanese however was a huge disappointment. First of all, it made us regret the arugula salad we ordered because it basically came with the same thing. Secondly, for a $46 veal dish you would want to actually taste the veal, but it was mostly breading. I’ve had chicken Milanese before, and this was no different, just twice the money. It was essentially a large chicken finger, and was also way too salty. It was a lot of money to spend to just have carbs and arugula. The staff was nice, but the water service was very slow. Maybe we ordered the wrong items, but really every dish should match the vibe of the place.

Don’t believe the hype! This place has great marketing.

Waiting a long time to go and it was a total flop!

Below is the email I sent them a week ago and still no response from management.

They care more about their social media than customers.

My email to them:

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share some feedback regarding my recent experience at your restaurant this evening, as I wish to do so constructively and without sounding bitter.

My wife and I had been eagerly anticipating our visit, especially as we wanted to celebrate her graduation from nursing school with a special date night. The ambiance of your establishment is truly spectacular; we hoped for an outside table due to the lovely weather, but we were content with the table we were given.

Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately by a very nice waitress who informed us of the drink special, the “Orangecello Martini”—which was delightful!

However, after the promising start, our evening took a downturn. We ordered the prosciutto appetizer, which came with focaccia, whipped ricotta, and strawberry preserves. Although it was beautifully presented, there was no mention in the description of any spicy or hot elements in the strawberry preserves. My wife is super sensitive—borderline allergic—to anything spicy.

After discussing it with our waitress, we learned there were hot peppers in the strawberry jelly. We requested to swap our appetizer for the burrata option, and she kindly accommodated our request, suggesting we could have "a little" prosciutto on the side, which we accepted. The burrata was enjoyable, and we appreciated the generous serving of prosciutto.

For her main course, my wife ordered the artichoke hearts while we planned to share the pappardelle. Due to our weight loss surgery, larger portions are challenging for us. Unfortunately, the artichokes were excessively salty, and the pappardelle also had noticeable heat, which was not suitable for my wife. Again, the menu did not mention any spiciness.

Hesitant to impose further and risk being perceived as bothersome customers, we decided to pack our leftovers and request the bill. To my surprise, I noticed a charge of $23 for the prosciutto. I had assumed this would be complementary, given the issues with the first appetizer.

Ultimately, I paid the bill but left feeling disappointed. We had looked forward to our dinner for weeks based on the fantastic reviews of your restaurant. As someone who has attended culinary school and frequently cooks, I don't consider myself a food snob; I simply wished for a more enjoyable experience.

I believe your menu could benefit from more detailed descriptions to help future guests avoid similar issues. I am sure we are not the first to encounter this situation.

Thank you for your time and...

Very conflicted to leave this review because on one hand I thought the food was very good, but on the other I thought the service was very deceptive.

This Italian place is more on the upscale side, at least visually. Personally I prefer an Italian place to have a more homey type feel to it, like you're headed to your grandma's on a late Sunday afternoon. I feel the food tends to suffer when restaurants try to have a sophisticated look to it, but here, the quality of the food was actually pretty good. I had the meat ball appetizer, which came with two hand ball sized meat balls with melted mozzarella on top. Flavors were good, with a tame red sauce and a fluffy meatball.

Entree was chicken parm. I thought the cutlet had a good fried texture, nice melted mozzarella, and the same tamed, well balanced red sauce.

Dessert was the flourless lava cake with black cherry Gelato and a cappuccino. Dessert very good. I dont really have a complaint about the food, everything was tasty. One thing maybe was the lack of a pasta included with the chicken parm and feeling unsatisfied with the portion.

The biggest negative with the place was the service. They were attentive but it felt like they tried to upsell you on everything, which is a big turn off.

First, the waiter. The waiter asked if we wanted sparking or flat. We asked for flat and next thing you know we are getting a bottle of water. Tap water was not given to us as an option. Next was the entrées. After I ordered what I wanted the waiter asked if I wanted a side. To me it sounded like a side was included, but after getting a bottle of water in the beginning I was hesitant to say anything but ended up saying no. Then there was cocktail that was given to me that I didn't order, a simple mistake but with the feeling of being up sold it just added to the problem. And lastly, when leaving a tip they didn't have a standard 20% option but they did sneakily have a 21% option. Again, little things like this just ruins the experience. I've been to various restaurants, some casual, some upscale, and this is by far the worst I've ever felt being nickle and dimed.

I dont blame the waitstaff because I know how this works and it's being enforced by management, but I think there needs to be transparency and clear communication to the consumers.

I would have probably come back every now and then but feeling like I was a cash cow instead of a guest will prevent me from...

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Hype or the Price

We had high hopes for Farm Family based on the buzz around, but unfortunately, our experience was underwhelming and frustrating from the start.

We had a reservation for two and, although we called ahead to let them know we were running 15 minutes late due to traffic, we were seated at a cocktail table outside, not ideal for a proper dinner. When we asked for a standard dining table outside, we were told those were reserved for parties of three or more. The hostess offered us seats at the bar instead, and since we were hungry, we reluctantly agreed. We were seated at a small corner table that felt like an afterthought.

To make matters worse, this is marketed as an upscale Italian restaurant, yet we had to order bread separately, something that’s typically complimentary. The bread was oversized, oily, and uncomfortable to eat. The burrata was decent, and the balsamic glaze was delicious, but there was barely any of it.

We ordered the pappardelle alla bolognese, which was unexpectedly very spicy, not something we anticipated, and we mentioned it to the server. I ordered my steak medium well, and it arrived medium rare. The branzino was fine, but certainly not memorable. Throughout the meal, our water glasses were often empty, and while our server seemed to be trying, he was clearly overwhelmed, likely busy with tables in the main dining room. We felt overlooked and forgotten in that corner.

What truly sealed the experience was that no one ever asked us how our food was, not once. No follow-up, no genuine interest. To top it off, the check was dropped on our table immediately after ordering dessert, cappuccino, and a Macallan, leaving my husband to rush through his drink. All for a bill just under $350, for service that felt rushed, inattentive, and cold.

We’ve dined at excellent restaurants around the world with top-notch food and service. This was not one of them. It feels like the kind of place people go just to say they’ve been, not because the food or hospitality actually justify it. We were looking for a memorable meal and quality service, and sadly, we didn’t feel welcome here. We walked away feeling like we wasted both our time and money.

We will not...
