9/30/2023 I brought my legacy Apple MacBook Pro laptop to uBreakiFix by Asurian at the Huntington Station store to have the screen replaced. They quoted me a steep price but knowing it was an Apple Retina display and they would use OEM Apple parts, I decided to have them proceed with the repair. They repaired it in a reasonable period of time. I went to the store to pick the laptop and it seemed to be virtually like new. I left very happy. I hadn't used the laptop for approximately 13 days since I picked it up. But when I went to use it the screen was populated by horizontal bars making it unusable. I brought it back to see if it might be just a minor issue. When I opened the laptop to show the issue it looked normal. I clicked the mouse and the issue resurfaced. I asked that they re-repair it. They claimed the screen was cracked. We certainly differed on that claim. There was no point of impact and like I said I hadn't touched the laptop since I picked it up. After numerous calls from store employees and the manager, all insisting there was nothing they could or would do further. The next day I called the Asurian office to escalate the issue. After speaking with 2 individuals I received an email stating they were remaining at the "not our problem" response I had gotten all along. I never screamed, yelled, cursed, or raised my voice. I remained professional all the time. But it doesn't surprise me that they didn't help me. They could have made an attempt to do something, maybe re-repair for a reduced fee, maybe I'd cover the expense of the parts? But no attempt was offered. Upon pick up of my still unworking laptop I explained that their customer support was poor. I plan to dispute the charges to my credit card account. Win or lose they will expend lots of time to answer the dispute. This is a foolish company. I highly recommend you stay away from them and do not suffer the aggravation I endured let alone the steep money loss. There are plenty of other places to choose from and I suggest you go...
Read moreBrought a laptop in since the casing cracked and the screen got separated from the hinges (everything still worked fine). They gave me a fair quote and were able to reattach the screen. They ask me to open it to make sure everything was good and the screen wouldn’t even turn on, and when further looking at it I can see that my computer was missing several screws and the casing was already starting to come apart in certain places again. They then tell me to come back in 24 hours since the technician who worked on it was not in to fix it. I come in later that day and everything seemed ok with the screen however when I bring up the fact that the casing is breaking again they tell me to “open my laptop slowly”. I had not touched the computer in at least a week and go to turn it on only to have the screen not work again. Now that Im in the area again I try and go in to get it fixed only to see that the store isn’t even open right now even though it says it’s open from 12-5 (currently 12:40). Don’t come here to this location I definitely do not recommend!!!!
Update 11/8/24: came in to get my laptop as I’m about to leave the country only for them to still not have fixed the computer and were ordering parts and about to do services that were not originally covered by them. I took my laptop back in worse shape than when I dropped it off originally. I recommend you get any form of documentation you can and honestly probably record everything as well. Read moreI had to wait nearly three weeks to be told that I needed to buy a new part for my Nintendo Switch. While I understood that the appropriate diagnostic tool needed to be ordered, I would have appreciated that information earlier so that I could have had the option of taking my device to another store that had the diagnostic tool available. ( I got the information a week after I submitted my device and that was only because I had called to find out.) I ended up ordering the docking port online the day before I was called in to let me know the diagnosis. ( I ordered it because I was just going to give up on doing the diagnostic and was planning on just asking for my device back.) So, I ended up paying to be told to buy a replacement part- which ended up being more than the part that I ordered.
I'm annoyed that in the end it was mostly a waste of my time. I'm sure that most of their work is high quality and the staff were always friendly and professional. I guess my recommendation is that if you want to bring in a game system for an issue, contact the store to see if they have the required parts for the diagnostic assessment before you drop off your device.
