Byron Lake Park — Attraction in Town of Islip

I love it, been going for years, stunk when it closed for COVID and when being redone, so I visited today the new and improved pool and yeah it is really nice, there are pluses and minuses for me, pluses-pool must be heated because it's never ice cold, the pool is definitely bigger, they have some overhangs and planted umbrellas but no tables anymore and they took those beautiful trees out by the back of the fence there were like two on each side, it was natural shade now it's just two rows of lounge chairs on top of one another so there's no real privacy everyone is right next to each other, and there's no deep part anymore, it used to go up to 6 ft, I loved being able to dangle my legs freely, and the price for a non resident is ridiculous, also can only eat in the restaurant area and have to wear these stupid irritating paper bracelets, I honestly liked it...

Byron lake holds alot of memories growing up so I'll try not to be biased. The entire atmosphere is nice, gazebo over the water, pay ground for kids, picnic tables and grills . This place is meant to promote family get-together's and good times. Bring a cooler with wheels because it's a walk to picnic area from parking lot. Bring toliet paper because there's a bathroom with nothing in it. Bring sanitizer so you feel a little better walking into and out of that restroom. That's where this place lacks. People can spend a whole day here having a great time but there's no space to freshen up, wash up or go to the bathroom. Looks like it's not being maintained and it's sad to think it might just become a distant memory.

OH AND YES IT'S A LAKE BUT DEF NOT A LAKE TO COOL OF IN! DON'T EXPECT TO PLAY ANY SWIM IT'S NOT THAT...

I LOVE THIS PLACE BEEN GOING FOR YEARS. BUT I DON'T LIKE THE FACT THEY KEEP CHANGING PRICES. I GOT A REC CARD WICH I PAID FOR TO GET IN MY FEE WOULD HAVE BEEN 8$ AND YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN THE TOWN OF ISLIP. IF YOU DON'T YOU HAVE TO PAY 12$ .BUT THEY SEEM TO CHARGE EVERY ONE 8$ ITS NOT RIGHT. I LIKE THE FACT THEY CHARGE OUTSIDERS MORE IT KEEPS THE ASSHOLES OUT. BUT THEY ARE NOT DOING THIER JOB. IM GOING TO CALL AND COMPLAIN TO RECREATION. WHY DID I PAY FOR...
