Bagels by the Bay / Bagel Doctor — Restaurant in Town of Islip

I have been going to this place for years and I've never had an issue with the food, pricing or service. The bagels are delicious: large, crusty, but with a nice chew and taste. (and this is coming from a bagel-snob). The people behind the counter are always very nice and organized even when it's busy.

I also like the locals/regulars who always eat here; they are very colorful and interesting to listen to. This is one of the few places remaining where you can sit down and get a nice bacon, egg, potato platter without having to wait for a table or endure slow table service or ridiculous prices. Ah... breakfast on Long Island can be something of delight given we have mastered the art of the bagel and the breakfast sandwich. Bagels by the Bay certainly doesn't disappoint. I moved off the island five years ago and besides missing family and friends, the regret of not having the food I've grown up with and loved nearby you can bet anytime I go home to visit I'm eating my face off. The young man working here was very accommodating and made me feel welcome. He put together two sandwiches for me that were delicious; an egg everything bagel with cream cheese, lox, tomato and onion to share. Came with a side salad. Chose the cucumber salad which was fantastic. Was so good I decided to try a Greek omelette on a sesame oat bagel. Excellent as well. Prices reasonable and not ridiculous like other places.
