The New Idle Hour Deli — Restaurant in Town of Islip

First of all let me start by saying that I have gone in delis from Mastic to Massapequa, Idle hour deli by far is probably the best one I have ever been to. The Deli business is probably one of the most demanding businesses to run. This place has it down to a science,great food,great service and very clean.Alot of people go into places that might be a little cheaper,but look around at those places they are probably very dirty. They spent alot of money recently on new salad cases,new floor,new coffee island and also a facelift on the front of the store.The catering is excellent as well as the quality of the food. I know that nothing is perfect but they are very close. I f you think about writing a bad review ,why dont you try and put yourself in the owners shoes..... you probably wouldnt last to long. Remember take notice of small details in food...

I have worked all over the island. Now that I am in Sayville I have ordered from a few different delis near by to get a feel for what was available. I have to say Idle Hour is the best I have dealt with so far. They have gone the extra mile to make sure that my orders have been not only accurately made, but they actually label the sandwiches by the name of the person to whom the sandwich was ordered for. Keeping in mind I am usually ordering for a minimum of 6 people every Saturday, that is pretty impressive. As far as pricing goes you get what you pay for. As far as deli sandwiches go their pricing IS competitive. If you are going to complain about how you can get a cheaper sandwich at a deli inside of a gas station just remember that you are eating a sandwich from GAS...

Not sure what’s happened to this deli, but while the food may be good, as others have said the quality of service has dropped tremendously. We frequent this deli a few times a week too, but forgetting simple things and charging an arm and a leg? Unacceptable. Why is syrup being forgotten in the platter? Very simple. If I ask for sausage and lettuce and tomato, why am I getting bacon and no LT? When we spend almost $30 why is there no OJ in the bag? You have ONE JOB. Do it right or don’t do it at all. This is the regular crew working too. I’m extremely disappointed, and unfortunately you have lost our business. Get your act together and hire the right people. This is also not the first time this has happened. FYI, we spend anywhere from $60-$100...
