Hobby Lobby: Come for one frame, leave with fall exploding in your trunk. THAT should be their dadgum slogan!
Let me be clear: I'm not what you'd call a crafter. In my head, sure--I'm out here crocheting whimsical potholders and making my own scented candles like some kind of Pinterest sorceress. In reality? I want to wake up with the skillset of a seasoned maker without ever enduring the YouTube tutorial struggle. I don't want to learn to crochet--I just want to already know, you feel me?
But none of that stops me from wandering the aisles of Hobby Lobby like I belong there. Because baby, I do. I may not be gluing rhinestones to wreaths, but when it comes to home decor? This is my Super Bowl.
No matter the style, no matter the season--modern farmhouse, vintage cottagecore, "my house looks like an antique shop and I love it" chic--Hobby Lobby always delivers. Fall? They've got pumpkins in every size and personality. Christmas? Don't even get me started unless you want to hear me wax poetic about artificial garland and buffalo plaid. Need a random decorative sign that says "Gather" in cursive? Oh honey, they have seven. And I will consider them all. (Who am I kidding: I already own all seven!)
Walking into Hobby Lobby is like entering a magical vortex where time doesn't exist and your cart fills itself. I always leave with twice as many items and zero regrets. And while I may not craft, I absolutely curate vibes--and Hobby Lobby is my go-to for all things "seasonal personality disorder but make it stylish."
Five stars. Ten stars. A whole galaxy of stars. And a cart full of...
Read moreA perfect cult store! Despite being a practicing Christian myself, this place, especially the patrons, give off a peculiar vibe of standoffishness. Many are the type that think tissues are too sophisticated. That and all the materialistic "Karens" looking for cheap faux rubbish to enhance the cheapness of their McMansion makes it an unpleasant place to have the misfortune to stop. Some of the stuff is okay, and I actually like some of the employees. How they are able to tolerate some of the customers attitude of "I want the manager" is beyond me. You get what you pay for, but less here..... Everything is horribly overpriced at the highest MSRP. That is not justifiable since they abandoned the 40% off coupon following a class action lawsuit. The "promise" of lowering prices after the coupon discontinuation is "baloney sausage" with a heavy dollop of salt and vinegar for the wound. I highly recommend that people shop elsewhere online, a local arts or crafts store that supports local business, and / or a store like Joanns or Michaels. The company supposedly goes by a credo of Christianity, but I could see Jesus turning over all the craft tables in this dump outraged by the hypocrisy of it all. I wonder if all the looted religious artifacts for the Bible Museum were returned Iraq as required by the court ruling? Not sure why they needed the original as they could put knockoff junk in there like they do the stores, and most people would not be any the wiser. Beware false gods (and the glitter sold at HL that they are...
Read moreAs someone who has worked in retail, it is Highly inappropriate to assume someone is shoplifting. I'd recommend the manager retrains employees on how to handle customers they view as "suspicious". You should NEVER assume someone is stealing and furthermore you should not accuse them of it! I was trained that you should give even more customer service to people you think might be shoplifting! I was approached by an employee because I was shopping with a reusable bag. I've done this before at numerous stores and I've never had a problem. This employee stated that next time I shop to not shop with my bag because essentially I looked like I was shoplifting. I was so offended by this assumption. I was shopping with my reusable bag because I was purchasing small items that could have easily fallen through the holes of a cart or basket. When I went to check out and purchase my items, I informed the manager at the front. To which she said and did nothing and walked back to her spot. She did not apologize to me, she did not say "I'm sorry that happened" or "I am sorry we offended you". This is not how good managers should treat customers. Any concern or comment a customer has, should be handled with care and respect. I definitely will not return to this location. I've learned my lesson and will stick with Michael's because at least the employees respect me. Oh and Michael's has self check outs because wow they actually respect...
