An absolute gem of a rail trail, one of the best I’ve ever ridden. Very well maintained, uncrowded, and dozens of side roads in the area so you’re not just riding an out-and-back. Generally uphill from Wassaic to the south until just past Millerton. Then slightly downhill to level until the trail’s end at Orphan Farm Road. Just about 25 miles, so far, if you ride the whole thing. Scenery is terrific with rolling farmland and the Taconic range. Go in the fall for outstanding foliage.

The headquarters of the organization which maintains Harlem Valley's Rail Trail, an ambitious project to blaze 73 km (~45 miles) of trail between Wassaic and Chatham. Idyllic scenery along the trail, with benches placed at some more scenic spots.

Went on the Walkway Over The Hudson; beautiful views all around and a nice wind on hot summer days. It's even elevator accessible from the river level. Definitely a place to revisit and recommend.

This trail is a gem but if you are out for a relaxing, leisurely ride BEWARE of serious cyclists! Two cyclists passed me from behind on one of the narrower bridges and I hit the fence. I was wearing my helmet, but I have a broken neck, 12 weeks in a neck brace and probable neck surgery soon. At 65 years old, recovery is a little slow. A beautiful day and a beautiful ride turned into my living Hell because I wasn't going fast enough for them. I hope they'll post "No passing from behind" signs on the narrower bridges. Also, that particular bridge had some vines growing into the pathway which made the path even narrower.

The Trail should be for all to enjoy. Many also walk the trail. Cyclists who come racing up from behind should also announce how many are coming. I heard "On your left" but I didn't know there were two coming. Serious cyclists need to be courteous and cautious with cyclists AND walkers who are just out for the pure enjoyment of the beauty and the exercise. Please! Be considerate of others! Not everyone is training for the...

Can't say enough good things about this rail trail. I've biked it to Wassaic and back to Millerton many times but now at age 94 with mobility issues I enjoy a slower pace on my Pride Travel Scooter. Not enough juice in the battery to get me to Wassaic and back however. This was my first run today and had no problem Millerton to Colemans Station and back. Next visit a...
