I paid +$300 to get 3 single coild pickups installed (should be straightforward). Took 3 weeks and when I got the guitar back it didn’t work. Plus, the volume knob I asked them to fix was not fixed either. I have nerve damage and this is the only guitar I can play. I told Chris I would take the pickguard off and leave that with him, so I could still play my guitar and he said no, I have to leave it on. This is all after he gave me an estimate and I said ok, but called back 30 minutes later and told chris to forget it, I could buy a loaded pickguard for $100 less. He said it was too late, he already started working on the guitar, but I would be getting all new American parts, so it would be worth it. Well, what do you know, I removed the pickguard and the first thing I see on the tone knob that he replaced was literally “made in Mexico”. I was tired of Chris’s lies and this ridiculous amount of time to replace pickups, so at that point I just cut my losses and took it to...
Read moreI gave 5 stars because I have nothing bad to say . . . Just feel inclined to mention that I bought a 1979 Fender Strat from Chris in 1986 at his old shop on Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows. I still have it today with the original setup he had done. As well as some repairs he made back then. To this day the fastest action with virtually no fret buzz. I have some nice guitars in my collection now, but this strat sounds so sweet to me and I find it remarkable that it hasn't had any adjustments since Chris set it up in 1986. He knew what he was doing back then and I imagine his skills have not declined . . . Who knows. Some negative reviews on here . . . I do remember he was a bit of a character with kind of a limited patience, but if he's good to you I wouldn't let it bother me. I wonder what happened to Carl who used to give lessons at that old shop. I was a terrible student at that time,...
Read moreI bought a PRS Silver Sky SE from the guitar center...on line after playing on in store. When it came I was very surprised at the fret work and "set up". Terrible. I thought they sent me a cheese grater. I was gonna return it but I love the tone and the neck feel was perfect. So I brought in to Chris at The Guitar Museum. He offerred advice and I left it for him to work on. Well I picked it up today, three days earlier than expected. The result? Perfection. Frets are now as good or better than my older Carvin (which is perfect)! Ground and polished flawlessly. The set up is also excellent, nice fast action with no buzz. My guitars get touched ny no one other than Chris! OH and his prices are very...
