T.J. Maxx — Attraction in Town of North Hempstead

⭐️⭐️⭐️ – 3 out of 5 stars I’ve been to this TJ Maxx in Greenvale, Roslyn NY many times—it’s convenient, and when you hit it on the right day, the finds can be excellent. But it definitely comes with its ups and downs.

Let’s start with the good: They offer a very wide variety of products. I usually head straight for the handbags and beauty section, which are stocked with brands like Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Steve Madden, and sometimes even Vince Camuto or Tory Burch. I’ve found name-brand skin care, luxury candles, and even a few surprise gourmet food items. The home section also has a solid selection of decorative pillows, wall art, and kitchen gear—great if you’re sprucing up a space.

The store itself is a decent size—not overwhelming—but not too small either. Things can feel a bit disorganized depending on the time of day. Shelves aren’t always well-stocked or labeled clearly, and the fitting rooms can be hit or miss in terms of cleanliness. But honestly, that’s kind of expected at discount retailers like this, so I don’t mind too much.

Now, the not-so-great part: The checkout process is a nightmare. The line is usually ridiculously long, even when the store doesn’t feel that busy. There are never enough cashiers, and the ones that are there are doing their best, but it’s just not enough to move the line quickly. I’ve waited upwards of 15 to 20 + minutes just to check out, which really kills the shopping buzz. I’ve seen people walk out without buying anything just because of the line.

Staff-wise, everyone I’ve dealt with has been polite and generally helpful. No complaints about attitude—but again, the problem isn’t the people, it’s the fact that there aren’t enough of them working the registers or on the floor to answer questions.

while the store has great merchandise, the staff is awful. transactions take twice as long as necessary because the very friendly staff talk to each other nonstop in Spanish! if they just paid attention to what they were doing, waiting on lines would be shortened a great deal. the manager of this store is also not too helpful. when asked if he could clear the isle of carts so I could make my way through, he told he that this wasn't possible because that's all he would do all day long if he had to clear the carts. if the merchandise wasn't good and the locale convenient, I'd go...
