Battery scam or incompetence in in action.. Purchased Grand Cherokee from here around 2018.. I have LIFETIME CERTIFIED PRE OWNED MAXIMUM CARE on vehicle.. Recently starting seeing the service 4wd light and that being case I an appointment 2 weeks in advance and for 2/28 with the request that they diagnose the four wheel drive system and let me know if it's covered under insurance. My Service Advisor was Dean. Dean stated that there is a $225 diagnostic fee that will be due if the diagnostic finds that the service 4wd light was caused by some uncovered item like a racoon chewing on wires, otherwise as I should only have to pay the $100 deductible on my warranty. I understood that and left car with dealership.. After several days passed I heard nothing and inquired as to status of said diagnosis with Dean. As on Monday March 4th no one even looked at car.. Why did I bother to even bring it in 5 days earlier? That was a minor annoyance but not critical. What was shocking was that I received a phone call later that day saying they ran diagnostics and the battery failed and I would need a new battery. I mentioned this is highly unlikely that battery was defective and that I did not want a new battery, I want the problem I brought the vehicle in for to be diagnosed and repaired. Dean informed that unless I purchased a new battery they could not move forward. I inquired what cost was to which was given a $629.00 cost with labor before tax.. As I felt that was excessive for a 700 amp AGM( you can buy 850 amp with greater AH for around $300 at Autozone), and I have not had any issue with car before I dropped off, I requested that I wanted to pick up car and they told me that then I would have to pay the $225 diagnostic fee. They emailed me a test showing the State of Health (SOH ) was 100% and State of charge (SOC) of battery was 36% and then at bottom it said failed. see attached. Pretty shady as it technically is set up for wrong battery. At this point I requested that they install an 800 amp Mopar battery and gave them specific model I wanted, to which Dean stated they did not have and so it was this point he offered to waive the $225 and pickup car. That is what I did. So wasted 2 trips to dealer and about a week with no car.. They gave me writeup which is attached. Says battery failed because of SOH Next day purchased new battery as per recommendation. I also kept the old one and ahd it tested. .Not only was the battery good, it was exceedingly good. State of Charge (SOC) was 97% at 1st AutoZone, SOC was 99% at 2nd Autozone. And it passed all tests at third location which was Advance auto.. All tests attached.. So here a couple thing worth mentioning On the report they show battery as 650 amp- whoever was running test entered wrong info on the GR battery tester used for test or worse they showed me someone else test. This is either fraud or incompetence, Either way not good On diagnostic report form on the state battery failed because of SOH- if that is correct battery, they report shows 100% on SOH. That doesn’t make any sense If they tested battery while attached to car then it’s possible that there is sin another problem aside from battery If they removed battery or even looked at it carefully they would have know they have the wrong data on the report The battery is in extremely good condition with a SOC of 97% on min reading The dealer tried to sell me a battery when i definitely did not need one, as demonstrate thoroughly by 3 independent tests The dealer wasted 2 trips, plus 6 days, plus caused me to purchase a battery for $285.00 when I did not need one My service 4wd light is still on. I had given the dealership the opportunity to refund me for the cost of battery I purchased on their recommendation and on my two trips at their rate of $225.00 but as of now they have declined Will be reporting the incident to DMV. Customers should not be taken advantage like this. I hope the battery was worth the loss of a...
Read moreThe original dealership’s offenses in other reviews WERE entrusted to YOU to remedy(for which I’m the idiot for overlooking your reputation as an unscrupulous lot). The other dealerships as told to your Oliver who only conflated the circumstances, were my prerogative to decide to visit—which I’d allow to work on my beloved vehicle(another thing Oliver tried to discount and discredit, despite the 4 months we’d owned this vehicle.) We sought after this model of vehicle since before first meeting your unscrupulous salespeople who tried selling us a recalled 2022 AWD Pacifica (which is still on your lot as of two days ago.) Our Pacifica is beloved to us, because of how long we hunted for the one we wanted; mileage(64,000); condition; options; color and price. Despite that original dealerships warranty (preferring more apt service from the vehicles manufacturer) we sought one, to perform such service. If not for the recommendation of an anonymous ex-employee I would never have chosen you. His promise assured his trusted ex-colleagues would be contacted to receive us. There’s nothing mysterious or erroneous about that. The understanding was if the allotted repairs were to serve us best, it’d be on one invoice—from one service center. Unfortunately, now that won’t be the case. Thankfully those police officers intervened as I’d be terrified to still have our vehicle on your premises. With employees who’d breach my privacy to recall that ex-employee and contact them to complain about referring me—who could trust such hostility. This person actually called me to apprise us what was divulged to them regardless of their employment status. Regardless of his referral and continued relationship with current employees, that should be considered a breach of my privacy. As for the other service center, they did briefly inspect the vehicle during the oil-change that remedied the over-filled oil condition— that I paid for out of my own pocket. I haven’t even included that in my allotment from the paying dealership. I was so worried to drive the vehicle with over-filled engine oil that we waisted no time having this done, AT COST. At that time, that other Chrysler service center relinquished our newly serviced Pacifica, with brand new oil at the proper level. For days I checked the level EVERY MORNING before starting it to ensure its level. Their receipt from that oil-change did indicate no other damage or smoking conditions. I stood inspecting their completed work under the hood with their very polite technician. I have a signed statement from their service director to that extent. Predicting your chicanery I was quick to secure proof of this. So make no qualms about other service centers the car’s been to. None have given our car back smoking, leaking(puddling engine oil) and leaking exhaust through untorqued exhaust manifold. Nor was my brand new headlight rendered inoperable after they admittedly adjusted it. You mentioned these items you alluded to doing at no charge to me. You DID CHARGE $5,000.00 to the paying dealership for the steering rack. Your negligence in tightening my exhaust manifold—which, even your own tech, service manager Keith and service invoice prove was removed during the rack and pinion replacement—allude to the quality control of your facility. If I didn’t immediate bring it back when you first called me to retrieve the van, you’d never have known. So are you saying you didn’t CHARGE ME TO RETORQUE A MANIFOLD YOU LEFT LOOSE??? Oh thank you, you’re so kind. The fact you’ll reference that speaks to your grasping at “ethical straws.” AWWW, you changed the bulb free of charge…..WHICH DIDN’T WORK ANYMORE AS A RESULT OF YOUR ADJUSTING THEM…you’re soooo kind. More grasping(careful you my fall over REACHING SO FAR.) YOUR OLIVER REFUSED TO INCLUDE THESE LITTLE TIDBITS ON THE INVOICE, so I...
Read moreWe purchased our 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport from East Hills Jeep last week. I must say that the team there is wonderful to work with - so much so that I took the time to write this review which is something I rarely feel compelled to do.
Our salesman Frank was lovely to work with. He was somehow able to find us exactly the car we wanted even though another larger dealer we went to, Westbury Jeep, could not. He was also able to help us customize it further with a trailer hitch/electric package and two-tone leather seats from Katzkins (which are absolutely awesome). The negotiating process was quick, no non-sense and fair both for us and East Hills Jeep I think. We did a non-contact high five (thanks COVID) in lieu of shaking hands, signed our agreement and left feeling really good about the experience!
Before we went to East Hills, we had gone to Westbury Jeep. Our salesman there would not budge on the price and even backtracked on the pricing of the add-on's we wanted. Westbury also pushed us hard into their own financing options from unnamed sources at rates of over 9%. It felt shady and diversional so we walked out. Needless to say, we were pretty happy when Frank let us know about promotional rates that Chrysler Credit was offering. It also confirmed our instincts about Westbury Jeep given that they "neglected" to tell us about the rates Chrysler was offering. Thanks to our Finance Manager, Arnie and his team there at East Hills, we wound up securing 0% financing from Chrysler Capital! Amazing. I will say that it took a lot of documentation and more time than we expected to qualify since our income comes from numerous places and businesses we own. It was somewhat frustrating for a time there but Arnie guided us through the process and navigated the bank's requests throughout and through to the end. But, given the rate, it was worth the effort rather than paying all cash.
Their service department was a nice surprise for us as well. We also have a 2018 Jeep which we leased from Westbury Jeep. While we were at East Hills buying the new Jeep, we scheduled the 2018 for its 20,000 miles scheduled maintenance service and for a steering damper replacement per a factory recall that went out about a year ago. Much to our surprise, Mike, our service manager there, took it upon himself before he gave me the bill to give us a $40 member discount credit on the service package as a courtesy for buying our new Jeep at East Hills. It was a nice unexpected touch on his part.
Oh yeah...the guy there who took care of the insurance stuff for us was nice to work with also. I can't remember his name exactly. Tom I think? Regardless, super professional and very patient waiting on hold with GEICO for 45 minutes for them to get their documentation straight.
So, the net result for us is another awesome new Jeep in our driveway at a great price and a great finance rate. The professionalism of Frank, Arnie, and the rest of the team at East Hills Jeep - coupled with their efforts on our behalf - are a breath of fresh air and much...
