If I could give 0 stars I would. I had called one Saturday a few weeks ago around 2pm asking what time they were buying clothes until. I was told on that phone call they are done taking clothes for the day. That was it. I called again a few days later I said just curious when do you buy clothes until. I was told they only buy in the morning from 10-11 on weekdays. Again that was it. And thatâs fine thatâs store policy.
I had some free time on a Monday so I call the day before, I say âI know you only buy clothes in the morning can I come by tomorrow near the opening time and drop off. I was told yes anytime between 10-11am. Great
So i get in my car and drive 50 minutes to this Platoâs closet in wappingers falls and I arrive at about 10:15am. As I approach the front door I notice a sign that says they are done buying for the day. Iâm thinking it mustâve just been left there from another day. I walk in and the woman at the desk proceeded to tell me they would not be taking anymore clothes. I told her that I spoke to someone on the phone yesterday and they said they buy clothes between 10-11am and you just opened 15 minutes ago. She then explained to me that people line up at 8:30am in the morning to be able to sell their clothes by 10, and that we wouldâve had to be in the line before 10am. 90 minutes before opening!! I was also told even if we had gotten there before, she wouldnât be able to accept it as my clothes were not in a clear plastic bin with a lid.
I have been to 4 other Platoâs closet locations before, and none of these locations had such restricted time frame for buying clothes nor did they require specific container, I have always brought the clothes in a large reusable shopping bag. In my 3 phone calls I have had with this location regarding buying times, not once did they mention the plastic bin requirement.
Very upsetting business practice they have in place. The other Platoâs closet locations I have been to have been easy to deal with and a lot less restricted on their policies, especially when the âpolicesâ at the Wappingers Falls location seem...
Read moreWell the first time I came here a few months ago I sold a bag of clothes with minimal issue other than that they only wanted a small fraction of what I brought, but thatâs whatever. The last time I tried to drop off clothes, however, they had completely changed their policies for selling and it was not listed anywhere on their website or socials. Firstly you can only drop off clothes at a specific time, so when we came the first time around we were unable to drop off our bin. We came again at the correct time and dropped it off, and the next day I wake to frantic phone calls from the owner saying I must come in ASAP to pick up my bin, which I was unable to do. Mind you, the last time I sold clothes it took them like two weeks to sort my bin. And mind you I checked their website and Instagram right before going in to make sure I was up to date on their policies, and nothing is stated about this rule! Now the owner is telling me I shouldâve came in that same day, as if thereâs anything I can do about that now. I came in as soon as I could to pick up my clothes and was met with rude staff including the woman who was texting me. After having me pick up my bin they just stood there and didnât say anything or acknowledge me, so I asked if I should leave or what was going on. The owner snarkily replies âum no we have to pay you.â Well lady I was wondering when that was going to happen! So they finally decide to call me over and give me my money and Iâm on my way. Now Iâm wondering if I should even bring back my second bin of clothes for another measly check and rude employee experience, or if I should go sell to Loose Ends in Beacon...
Read moreHorrible place, very standoff-ish attitude.
They looked at me with disgust as I offered my vintage polo jacket (the 1 Carlton from Fresh Prince of Belaire wore in an episode) & told me it was out of date/style.
Also told me Ferragamo wasnât âtrendy enoughâ i offered a pair of Felice, in black, italian leather FROM the designer themselves, wouldnt take them.
My items are in prestine condition as I am a reseller.
I looked over to my right & picked up an old navy vest off the rack with about 3 holes in the fabric with the cotton falling out from the inside & asked if that piece was in better condition than my jacket & they said no so I asked why is it on the rack? I asked if they felt proud to sell that to someone & they got quiet.
Also tried offering my gf pink & black low top uggs & the said Ugg was out of style & not âtrendyâ
I watched them put the old navy jacket with rips back on the rack.
These people absolutely give people attitude when they want money for nicer things, idk if its just bad sales people on the floor or people with egos but you shouldnt assume someone wants top dollar for something & lie to them about the reason you wont take the item. (Iâve gotten great use out of my dress shoes, originally $400+ I would have gladly let them go for under $100, business owners loss)
Just offer your price & say you dont have a market for higher end designer. To call designers that are clearly IN style, not trendy enough by your standards selling clothing with rips & holes in them...
