I wanted to get my boat restored, 2005 Bass Tracker, new deck from bow to stern, new carpet, and make a couple of small modifications for my comfort, and check a few things to make sure they're working and repair if needed. The guy I spoke with (Chris) gave me an estimate that was higher than I expected, but I agreed to pay. When I got the boat back, I was livid at the shoddy job that took him all winter to complete, and the cost of the job went up by almost 2000.00 dollars. I almost didn't pay, but I wouldn't have gotten my boat back if I didn't, and he knew this. So a job estimated for 4000+ ended up being 6000+. Some of the work started falling apart by the following season, and there were a few unexplainable things wrong with the boat that weren't a problem when I gave it to him. He took out a one-piece lower deck and replaced it with two pieces. There was work I asked him to do that never got done. I didn't get to inspect the work because he covered it before he contacted me to let me know it was finished. I just completed the work myself in 2023. He had the boat the entire winter of 2019/2020. I would not recommend this marina to wash your boat! If they see an advantage that they can take, they will. It took me 3 years to finish the job I overpaid them to do. And I'm still paying for the job they didn't do very well! Update on review. 10/21/24 . I was going to use my navigation lights for the first time since I got my boat back and surprise they don't work. He didn't connect the wires before he closed up the transom. Now I have to take it apart or run a new wire to get it working. Still finding problems I never had before he started the job. It's very sad that they burned someone that gave them work and trusted them to be...
Read moreI went to Katlynn Marine to have my sails inspected and serviced by Paul and Tony of Bay Sails, which is operated out of the same building as Katlynn Marine. While it was my first visit to both Katlynn and Bay Sails I found both to be first class establishments. Paul of Bay Sails inspected my sails and identified chafing and pinholes that I would not have found on my own. He helped me understand how my sails can be maintained, and what features were included (or not included) to allow different modes of use. He gave me options for repairs and helped me to understand the costs for repairs, improvements, and replacement. He identified issues that were caused by my rigging and even told me that my steaming light was chafing my foresail during tacks. While Bay Sails' reputation brought me to them, I'll go back because I can see that the experience level, attention to detail, customer service, and love of sailing of the team are exactly what I want from the people who will be giving me advice on seaworthiness of my boat. While there, Paul gave me a brief tour of the Marina. Wow! Katlynn has a beautiful facility with a full service maintenance department, decent size ship's store, lots of showers and bathrooms, a lubhouse with kitchen, a gym, and a restautant! They offer lots of winter storage including indoors and there are many beautiful...
Read moreUSED to be a decent marina. Last 3 years it has really declined. Clubhouse & bathrooms are nice. Ships store run by Bill is good. Service dept is the WORST ! Shoddy workmanship at twice the price. Used to be good but lost all their good people because of the marina "manager". Speaking of which, he's THE reason for the ongoing decline. NASTY temper, horrible with customers, in WAY over his head & seems to have a problem with "cocktails". Very unfriendly atmosphere there. There are WAY better marina's...
