I know that many of us read threads about lakes that we might be interested in fishing but are lost when it comes to finding accommodations.Well, if your intereast ed in fishing Sodus Bay,the Sodus Point Lodge will meet all your needs. I just had a group of 35 friends and family from Buffalo area stay there. While we struggled finding fish ,especially in the high winds of this past weekend,we enjoyed ourselves at the lodge. The main common area has two flat screen TV,s two 8 man poker tables,a computer desk ,(wifi enabled for those with a lap top) I believe 6 wooden tables that sit four at each, a corn burning stove that keeps you toasty warm, four or five couches for sitting, a pool table, actual bar dart machine and a kitchen area available for the patrons of the lodge,(refrigerator, stove, oven ,dishwasher etc and even the cooking utensil's. This room has two long corridors on each side that has four rooms and bathrooms.Of the eight rooms, one is a two man room andone is a six man .The remaining are 4 men. Upstairs*(outside stairwell leads to a six man loft loft with private shower and bathroom. Also a small kitchen area. Right behind the main lodge is a two story cottage, that has 12 twin beds upstairs. With couches and a large flat screen TV downstairs. Also equipped for laptop use.Has own kitchen with stove, oven refrigerator, freezer etc. Also has own bothroom with shower down stairs. In addition the owner also owns the building two door down the road that sleeps six upstairs and newly remolded two years ago and has remodeled the old tackle store(downstairs this past year)) into 5 high quality rooms that you would consider taking your wife /girlfriend during summer months. Wall to wall carpet.flat screen TV in each room. knotty pine walls and outdoor scenic bed cloths and comforters.|| But the accommodations, price, and location are only half the story. The attitude and respect that the owner and his staff of workers provide the customers is basically a feature from the Good old days. before big corporations forced small Ma and Pa stores out of business. This owner realizes that quality of time that his guest experience is directly related to whether they return again , and if they spread the word of mouth about their great experience. Large amounts of money spent advertising is corporations way of advertising.,not ma and pa type store.|| I have used the term Ma and Pa type of store numerous times. Don't get me wrong .This man wants to make sure anything he can do to make your outing more enjoyable ,he does. This establishment was occupied with outdoorsman. A the main lodge was active both nights, fisherman cooking in the kitchen, others that brought crockpot full of stews, chilies etc, and those that were taking advantage of outside cooking on the two large grills provided. Afterwards the area turns into 20 to 40 guys sitting around having cocktails or beers telling stories of the day. Or watching TV or playing cards, pool.|| The additional benefit of this establishment is it located right on Sodus Point, Two bars, two restaurants within hundred yards. No need for vehicles. If you have a question drop a Pm. This man was very impressive and treated my party of people so well, the least i can do is spread the good word. Upon leaving Sunday morning /afternoon about twenty of my group personally thanks me for making it such an enjoyable trip, And I had nothing to do with it, but having the good fortune to find a great business owner. hopefully more will have the opportunity to enjoy his places.||||PS Saturday and Sunday mornings breakfast is provided from about 6 am till 9-10am( The woman and man that cook are very flexible with their hours and very good cooks, Sunday had homemade sausage gravy over biscuits(home made) scambled eggs ,hash browns, bacon, sausage links & patties, Toast ,muffins bagels ,cream cheese, water, coffee.orange juice, boxes of cereal and fruit.||||pss: Did I mention that is included in the price of your room? no ten spot for a breakfast and tip ,if you can find a spot to eat. that early. Having a cup of coffee about a couple minutes after waking is excellent. And not feeling the cold to do so(great) Served buffet. Take what you want and how much you want. But please remember the cooks and clean up...
Read moreGood: Owner very nice and communicates well. Provided coffee. Great room has interesting tackle and taxidermy and warm atmosphere. Mattress was OK and sheets appeared to be new and clean. Bathroom was functional and mostly clean. Owner told us the property was under new ownership and they are making changes. ||Needs improvement: Rooms are very bare with old carpet and pine paneling. There was a small table and nothing else. Drop ceiling in the bathroom had several stain marks and bugs in the light. Window had dried up bugs and dust everywhere. ||Why we left mid-stay: The front door to the lodge was open all night and anyone could have walked in. There is no front desk staff in the building to stop strangers from wandering in. We were told some of the exterior doors didn’t latch well. Our room door had no deadbolt and was a hollow door with a hole in it. Handprints on the outside of our window. Some towels in the bathroom had brown and orange stains in them. When we checked in we were told we were the only guests “at the moment” and it was nearing 7:30 at night. Middle of the night people were waking all up and down the halls, shouting and arguments in the adjacent rooms. We did not feel safe. Also felt misled that the room pictures advertised on their website is in a totally different building that seems to be owned by somebody else. ||Conclusion: This is a fishing lodge. If you’re there to fish and sleep and not much else I guess it works fine. Not the best...
Read moreWe were looking for a room, just spur of the moment on vacation. I called and the owner, Matt, was noton the property at the time. Said he was an hour out but he texted me the code to open the room. We were able to get our bags inside and go grab dinner while waiting and we hadn't even paid yet! You absolutely don't find that kind of trust at too many places anymore. We were very pleasantly surprised by the service and the room. The room was large and nice with updates...big new TV with streaming, a lighted and heated mirror in the bathroom, new fluffy towels and a Keurig, fridge and microwave. It had a nice homey feel. We met the owners after dinner and had a nice conversation and they provided some local recommendations. He also rides motorcycles so he can assist with local routes. They price was great, too! Will absolutely stay again if...
