I had a very nice dining experience at The Bay Street! It was a higher end meal but one I felt comfortable eating in jeans. It is best to make a reservation. I was seated in the bar area without one but ordered from the dining room menu. They didn't forget about me though! They were friendly and attentive. I felt comfortable dining alone. No one wore a mask, employees or patrons, so that does not appear to be required for dining here. I ordered a pasta dish, Michael Stewart's Square One Key West, with green, red and yellow peppers, spicy sausage, maybe Andouille, chicken, zucchini, spinach, enormous shrimp and scallops. It came with a side salad and bread. The bar was active and I understand the drinks are great. Of course this recommendation came from the barkeep, so it may be slightly prejudiced. I missed the Naples Grape festival, so I thought I'd better order a grape pie to go! If it is anything like the dinner, I don't think my high expectations will be disappointed!

4 of us visited for the 1st time Friday at 5:30. We had the crab cake appetizers, the full filet, Bay Street Shrimp, stuffed pork chop, and lobster mac and cheese. I would go back for the crab cakes. They were fantastic! The filet was perfect, and the bay street shrimp and pork chop stuffed with mozzarella and basil were very good. I loved the mashed potatoes. The lobster mac and cheese was a disappointment. The noodles were soggy and had a bit too much salt. The restaurant was dated and could use some decor updates, plus it has accessibility issues (for the blind) . Low plants on deck walking to the door, uneven flooring, The wait staff seemed ambivalent to their customers. Prices were very high but the food that was good was very good!

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place for dinner because it was the only place in Sodus Point that was open. It was a Sunday afternoon at around 4:30 pm. We entered the bar area and had no idea whether to seat ourselves or not. No one greeted us. We waited a few minutes and eventually made our way to the back of the building where the restaurant is. Again, no one greeted us. We needed to seek someone out to ask if we could get a meal. The woman whom we addressed seemed frazzled and was quite frankly, very abrasive. She told us we could eat a light faire in the bar but to sit at a 2-top instead of the 4-top we asked for, because they were the only restaurant open and we're expecting a lot of people coming for dinner. Not our problem. So we sat at the 2-top and stared at the clutter on the walls in the bar. The bar had a Mardi Gras/Margaritaville theme and covered with knick knacks and chotchskies. The dining room looked nice, but I felt discouraged from eating there by the abrasive woman we spoke with. We sat in the bar for about 15 minutes, and we were never acknowledged, so we left. We will not...

We winter in Austin and spend summers in upstate NY. In the past, the Bay Street has been the best restaurant in the area...expensive, but quality food. Tonight, however (June 2017) the experience was terrible. We had early reservations (6:15) so no excuse for "skimpy" servings. We had a party of six...five ordered the seafood and Andouille sausage over pasta and one ordered the filet (which was fine). The entrees were in the neighborhood of $31. Now, $31 should get you more than TWO (yes, TWO and they were medium in size, NOT large) TOUGH shrimp. Tasted like they had been boiled and re-boiled over and over again. In addition to our two shrimp, we each got ONE small-to-medium size scallop sliced in half. We got a few pieces of chicken and a few pieces of sausage. Typically with a pasta dish, you can't eat it all and ask for for doggies bag. None needed...so little pasta in the bowl that none of us left a single strand. Meal was so poor for that price (it would have been 'acceptable' for $16, but certainly not $31) that I will not go back after frequenting it...
