We live in Buffalo, NY and were visiting Sodus, unfortunately we ended up at this restaurant. We were so excited to get to dine waterside with a great view but our visit rapidly turned quite negative. The five of us were sat upstairs, the view was nice. This was around 6pm on Sunday, July 20th btw. The waitress came and we all ordered drinks, I ordered a cocktail which was a Moscow Mule with whiskey instead of vodka. She brings it to me in a tall glass, a draft beer glass. So I asked if they had the tin mugs that a Mule is supposed to be served in and she said no. Okay, I've never been served one NOT in a Mule mug but here we are. Then I'm drinking it and it tasted like it was made with lemonade rather than ginger beer. It just wasn't good at all. So, I told her it didn't taste right and that I would just switch to a glass of wine (so that it was simple) and she actually poured and served me wine in one of the filthiest glasses ever. It had lipstick smeared halfway around the entire rim, you could see the lip mark clear as day and the stem was dirty as well. How she poured that and served it without noticing that is incredible. Thank God in heaven that I didn't sip it because I'd have been traumatized. I noticed it right away and called her over to show it to her and she didn't say a word. No apology, no nervous giggle about it being a mistake, absolutely nothing. If I served someone something in that cup I'd have been mortified and extremely apologetic and embarrassed. I told her I would stick with water. There was NO WAY I was going to chance trying to get another drink and no way I was drinking out of any cup at that place. Then our food comes and I had ordered the strawberry chicken salad, the entire chicken breast was drowned in a dark, balsamic glaze. I had asked for 2 different types of salad dressing on the side so that I could try them both and one of them was the wrong dressing, not a huge deal but while I'm writing this I thought I'd mention it. The food was not good at all. I did not eat more than 2 bites of the chicken because all it tasted like was strong balsamic, also, I had added onions and avocado to my salad (since it only had 4 ingredients for nearly $20) and they charged me another $7 for those items. Wow! Another person at my table had ordered cheesy garlic bread and when our food came it was nowhere to be found so she asked for it. The waitress goes to check and comes back and says it'll be a few more minutes so her food was basically gone by the time the bread arrived which is never fun because by then you're full. Yet it was still on the bill. Out of five people only 2 really liked their food. Mine was awful and the other 2 were underwhelmed with theirs. But the view was nice. Then the bill comes and lo and behold the Moscow Mule was still on there for ten dollars. I called her over wondering why it was still on there and she said she couldn't take it off because she made it herself with all the correct ingredients and I just didn't want it. I couldn't believe it. Either this girl is young and has not much service experience, or she just truly does not know how to pick her battles. Things like that directly affect your tip sweet thing. People don't go to restaurants with their own hard earned money to get served crap! If I'm paying ten dollars for a drink I'd like it made the way it's supposed to made and served in a proper cup and if it isn't then it needs to be corrected or removed from the bill. Unbelievably enough she came back like 5 minutes later after we were making it known how ridiculous it was that the drink charge was on there (even the cheesy bread shouldn't have been on there) and she said she spoke to a manager and was able to remove the drink from the bill. But you could tell she had a very bad attitude about it. Learn some humility young lady. It will serve you well in life. When you make a mistake learn from it. Be pleasant. I know 100% YOU wouldn't have wanted to be served a glass of wine in that filthy glass so when you serve that to someone-own...
Read moreI mistakenly set my expectations according to my experience with Six50 in Victor- elegant, a bit sophisticated, nice atmosphere. But boy was I surprised 🙄. It was very loud & lacked the aesthetic I know the Victor location to have. It was not a very ideal space for date night with my wife.
& then there was the food- it was nice that it came out rather quickly. I judge a lot of places by their Caesar salad. I ordered one for my entree. The salad was chopped into small pieces, which really isn’t my favorite. I like to see & feel the leafy greens on my fork & in the chew. I don’t like feeling like I’m eating rabbit food. The Caesar dressing lacked a flavor potency that I appreciate with this salad. I had salmon on the side, & it was clearly undercooked. I don’t mind undercooking, but I know everyone isn’t a fan of that. Our reservation was for 6:30 & I recall that they close at 8- so it seems like the salmon was rushed in the interest of making sure we were in the swing of eating so we wouldn’t linger.
I ordered a cocktail from their summer menu. It would seem to me that they would benefit from actually having a bartender. The drink wasn’t adequately mixed so I didn’t feel like the flavors in it came together. Cocktails need a solid balance of flavor, & I felt like my drink fell short of that rather obviously.
Sodus is a beautiful place. I think this restaurant still needs some work in terms of the quality of what is presented. Server was very...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE. 7/7/23 - family of 3. We arrived around 2pm on Friday. Only 1 other couple in the entire place.
Our waitress was rude from the get go, she was unaware of “catch of the day”… claimed the chef “forgot it” …???Interrupts us mid appetizer (food in our mouths, literally) and asks if we’re ready to order food. (What?!)
Main course comes, and only 2/3 meals are ready. My meal was served, but T he side of buffalo sauce I requested for the grilled steak sandwich was forgotten. When I ask for it, she exclaims “they forgot”… proceeds to walk over to the other end of the restaurant and shout to the kitchen for someone to get a side of buffalo sauce. This ordeal took over 5 minutes as I’m sitting with a meal in front of me.
My dads order, (3/3) was black oven wings. They come SO UNDERDONE, I would’ve NEVER ever consider serving them to someone! Meanwhile, me and my mom are halfway through our meals. He asked for them to be taken back, and taken off the bill. They did. On top of that, I wouldn’t recommend the steak sandwich. Still a $129 bill.
Service was HORRIBLE and food was bad.
$0 tip, will never be back, will never recommend! SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE!
