I had spine surgery in Oct 2018. The neurosurgeon gave me permission to resume working out after 4 months. I waited for 5 months to go back to Anytime Fitness and request a personal trainer. When I met with the personal trainer for my assessment I was completely transparent about my surgery and health. He was on board with everything I said, even mentioning that he too suffered from back ailments so he understood how to train someone with back issues. We went on the gym floor. I did a few exercises and again he assured me I was trainable. I signed injury waivers, paid, etc. I even saw the PT that Monday in the gym before our actual session. He complimented a couple of the exercises he saw me do.
The night before I was to have my first training session, the General Manager called to tell me that the PT had second thoughts and does not want to train me. She had no one else in mind to train me even though I have medical clearance to do everything except workout with heavy weights and kettlebells.
I am completely devastated and upset beyond words. Any confidence, dignity and self-esteem I had has been completely stripped away by this incident. The message I took away was crystal clear. You aren't worthy to be coached by Somerās Anytime Fitness personal trainers if you have any physical limitations. Only ask for personal training if you are in perfect health otherwise you may pose an inconvenience in their perfect little compartmentalized fitness...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI joined Anytime Fitness in December 2022 and took advantage of a free consultation with Dave, one of their personal trainers. From the start, he was attentive and genuinely invested in my fitness journey. Eight years ago, I suffered an injury that required me to wear an immobilizer on my leg for six weeks. As a result, I lost significant muscle mass in my left leg and struggled for years to rebuild it. Persistent knee pain became a daily challenge, and I felt stuckāuntil I met Dave.
He carefully assessed my situation and developed a plan to strengthen the muscles around my knee. I still remember struggling to lift just 10 pounds on the leg extension machine. Now, I can easily do multiple reps at 20 pounds, and my knee pain has nearly disappeared. More importantly, I feel stronger than ever before.
Beyond the outstanding personal training, the gym itself is a fantastic place to work out. The management team is hands-on, and the manager leads by exampleāwhether helping members, fixing equipment, or keeping the space clean and inviting. The facility is well-maintained, and while itās always active with members of all ages, it never feels overcrowded.
The welcoming atmosphere, excellent trainers, and commitment to cleanliness and maintenance make this gym stand out. Anytime Fitness has played a huge role in my fitness journey, and Iām truly grateful for the support and progress Iāve...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I have been members of Anytime Fitness since 2018. When we first joined we bought personal training sessions and trained with Doris. She was a great trainer. After Doris was no longer with AF we both worked out with other trainers but we were not happy. We stopped going to the gym. Last year we were going to cancel our memberships but we met the trainer Anna at Somers Appreciation Day. Immediately we connected with her. She is very friendly, funny, has a lot of energy, knowledgeable, caring and most importantly to me, she listens to her clients. I recently got injured (out of the gym) and had to go for physical therapy. She checked in with me and made sure I was okay. I have returned to working out with her and she is really making sure I ease back in without injuring myself. Anna is the best trainer I have worked out with since Doris. I am so grateful she convinced me to get back into the gym and workout with her. After every visit with her, I always feel better. Anna really is the best. (My husband has not been able to work out with a trainer but he will be able to soon and Anna is who he will...
