I have promoted several race events and this is the only time Im going to comment about the Centential Race Saturday Night 8/17. You have a beautiful facility especially the Buzzie Reutimann Merchandise Room. However, You advertised you were going to start at 4:30pm and never started til 5:40pm, an hour late. If you would have watched the radar you could see there was rain coming around 10:20pm and pushed the show through. Instead of cutting pre-race activities back to save time, like the classic cars going 5 laps around the track or putting the Modifieds on the track while the announcers did the starting line up, you dragged the show along. There is no reason or excuse why the show shouldnt have been over by 10pm on Saturday Night. I also wasn't pleased when the backstretch grandstand ran out of drinks. Did you not know you were going to have a race? Did you not plan accordingly? I left this track with a bad taste in my mouth after Saturday Night and Im not sure when or if Ill ever go...
Read moreMy dad took us here for the first time in 1975. It became a tradition for the next 7 years. I went, when I was in town, a few times in the late 1980's and finally moved away for good (California) in 1989. My dad passed in 2005, and sadly we never got to go together before he died. I took my son last year, and the memories came flooding back. The racing action was great, the food was as good as I remember and I got to introduce my Father In Law and son to NY traditions like Italian Sausage and Pepper sandwiches (Yes, they are not served here). You cannot get a better bang for your buck than the OCFS. Hours of entertainment, great fair food AND the bathrooms have improved since I was last year. Parking and the entry moved, but we found our way. A lot of memories are ruined by returning to a place many decades later, but not in this case, it was how I remembered it, and just loved every minute. Highly...
