If I could give less stars I absolutely would. This used to be a nice small thrift store when I was younger, just moved back to Tucson and came here to try and get furniture for my fiancee and I's new house. Right off the bat, before we could even pull in, an employee was standing in the middle of the driveway, staring off to her left and being completely oblivious to the fact that a car (ours) was actively trying to pull into the parking lot off the main road. She did not move, nor even glance in our direction while we struggled to pull in and also not hit her because, once again, she was obliviously standing in the middle and staring off at the road. We suspect someone stole something, but I fail to see how multiple employees standing staring at the road for 10 minutes is going to do anything.
We spent a bit looking at an entertainment center, deciding if we wanted it or not. The same employee as earlier walked up to us, immediately accusatory and demanding to know if "-you guys are the ones dropping stuff back here." (something had fallen off a shelf nowhere near us) She was immediately bitchy and rude. We told her, no, we were just looking at this furniture because we're trying to buy it. She continues being rude and standoffish, somehow remaining accusatory while saying it had to stay here until it was paid for and then she would "move it through the back." We go up to pay, and she walks up to us, again very standoffish and rude, not at all customer service-like. She informs us that while attempting to slide the solid wood, multi-shelf item across a non-flat floor that "Part of it just fell off." She didn't explain anything. Said something about it catching on a tile and then it just broke. Either these people have no idea how to move fragile furniture, or she was continuing her bitchy tyrade and broke it on purpose. Who's to say, I'm obviously not paying full price for a piece of furniture that YOU broke while moving it because for some reason even though I have to load up my own furniture, I'm not allowed to take it out of the store myself. She offered no apology, nothing. Not even a "Sorry about that." Just "oh yeah it broke.", and then continuing to just stand there instead of giving apologies, offering to show us the damage and see if we still wanted it, nothing. She just stood there. My dad went unaccompanied to look at it and saw it was in fact fully broken, i turned to the cashier, who was just standing there, seemingly clueless, as if it wasn't already painfully clear i no longer wish to purchase the item. So i tried to instead just pay for a chair i had wanted. The employees all still just stood there, staring. After saying "Alright fine, i guess we're saying screw you to this thrift store" to my family and dropping the tag for the item on the counter, the cashier gave a VERY passive aggressive and bitchy "Have a nice day." To which I simply matched that energy with an equally bitchy "You too." Because if all of your employees are bitchy and rude, and you can't function as a business, or provide ANY customer service, than you don't get customers.
To summarize my issues: Employee oblivious and blocking the driveway from being entered. Employee rudely accusing us of breaking things. Employee overall being very rude amd just plain bitchy. Actually ALL employees being rude the entire time we were in the store. Employee breaking the item i wanted. Employee oblivious to an obvious situation of no longer wanting an item. Employee being passive aggressive as if the whole situation was not entirely the fault of the business and employees.
What the hell happened to you Speedway Outlet? Get better employees or lose potential customers. Might i also remind that I used to be a long standing customer for years at this store. I move away for a couple years and this happens? You lose...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place has really improved in the last few years since I was there before. It's organized better, looks brighter and cleaner and the selection is better. No dressing room, so if you want clothes, it's a good idea to wear something you can try on things over it, like leggings and a tank top. I found some wonderful blouses . Prices vary from $.99 - $6.99 on tops and dresses. The sizes are not segregated so you have to sort through everything, but racks are not overstuffed so it's okay. One thing I really really wish they would change is the policy of NOT SELLING SOMETHING IF THE PRICE TAG IS GONE!š« I found a wrap dress that had a price on it, but when I got to the register we discovered that the tag had fallen off. It was an item I had been looking for for months and finally found the size, color style ect that I was looking for. It was my favorite pick of the whole shopping experience. They WOULDN'T SELL IT TO ME!!!! I pleaded with them and asked the manager. I would have been willing to pay extra for it. They said, "Come back tomorrow!" I live far away and that wasn't an option. So frustrating. Goodwill will reprice something for the customer if an item is missing a tag. I understand they are trying to protect themselves from sneaky people changing prices, but their solution is bad customer service and bad PR. They probably have a good feel for the value of their products so what's the big deal to just set a price on the spot by an upper informed employee? The little bit of hassle for them would pay off in customer satisfaction and the disappointment of inconvenience for the customer. It's sorta like punishment for the public in case someone is trying to get one over on them instead of working with the customer and finding a satisfying solution. I'm writing this in hopes the management will reconsider. Spoke with them yesterday to no avail, even though the cashier was kind and apologetic, the manager was cold, unbending and military about it and scolded the cashier for asking on my behalf!š§ There's no way to post a comment directly to the manager. Would have given 4 stars if they had let me purchase the main item that I wanted which was only $2.99 but they wouldn't take my word or check a comparable item to varify. I agree with other reviewers that the management has an unfavorable attitude towards customers....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām not sure how to rate this thrift store.
It is one of my favorite price wise. Things are fairly priced and then they have the colors of the day which are an amazing amount of savings! I donāt think there is a better priced thrift store in Tucson. The selection is pretty decent, I think they focus highly on clothing.
The problems with this thrift store is the staff. They are intensely rude. I have been here on many occasions and am never impressed with the people they hire.
On one occasion their registers were down, not a problem. But they had no signs in the door or announcements that their machines were not working. Myself and another women went to check out and were told if we didnāt have cash we couldnāt check out. Fair I suppose.. I asked if I could leave my cart up front and run to a gas station to grab cash and this women said NO. I was appalled. Iām not one to ask for a manager but I did and she said of course we can hold it , 10 minutes thatās it. Did it problem solved but super annoying.
I frequent this store and on occasion there are items without tags and I have learned to not even look at them even if I really want them. If you have an item with no price tag they will not give you a price and will take it from you and put it away to be priced later. The first time it happened to me I was devastated. What kind of thrift store doesnāt want an item out?
The constantly make announcements in their store saying, if you have kids make sure they are with you and they are not allowed to play with the toys, respectable but a little obsessive.
No bathroom either šāāļø.
Great place as long as you ignore staff and...
