tl;dr: Good value for an easy 18, pretty well maintained, great clubhouse, extremely slow pace of play due to tee times not being enforced along with the nature of being an easy course, rude staff who blame you for not enforcing their own tee times, marshall who doesn't do his job
Pros: Pretty good value (if you have time to burn), nice clubhouse, reasonably well maintained
Negatives: -VERY SLOW pace of play, make sure you have a full day free: Biggest thing to note is that this is arguably the slowest playing course despite it being relatively short. Of course there is an element of the ease of the course leading to lower handicap players slowing pace of play which one should always be cognizant of on a public course. However the staff do not enforce tee times well leading to 5+ hour rounds. Both times I've played here, we had to start nearly 30 minutes past our booked tee time because of this. Even with these late starts, be prepared to wait 10-20 minutes between holes for players to finish holes. -Marshall rude and does not do his job: The marshall decided to rag on us for pace of play even though we were literally waiting 10-20 minutes to even start between holes. He even singled out one of our players for having a "slow pre-shot routine" even though he was playing bogey golf - insane. Blaming us for being behind our tee time when we literally had no choice in the matter is insane. In addition, the group in front of us had multiple instances of leaving the flag out of the hole. Instead of correcting this or talking to the group, he just harassed us multiple times to increase our pace of play when we literally could not play faster due to the...
Read moreSo disappointed, my nine year old got kicked off because "you're going to slow" and "you didn't go with the group". 1. No one told us we had to stick with the other group (of people we don't know). I even mentioned it was our first time at this location. The man said he announced it over the speaker, but clearly, he did not explain that you had to stick with the group. This is not a thing at our usual place I even mentioned it was first time at this location**. 2. My husband/son each got two strokes in, haven't even made it to the green before the man from the office comes up to kick them off. Some entitled donkey of a person was unable to demonstrate any kind of patience for my nine year old and complained. How did you do that so fast? My son has more patience than you. My son understands the concept of taking turns and being courteous. Is golf not a game of patience? Is it because he's in the Youth on Course program? I don't care if there's "a better time to teach", we can come whenever we want. No where on the website or in the office is there a sign that says anything about a "preferred beginners" time. They scheduled us for a time, we paid for that time, knowing my son was going to play, and not one mention of that. Not one mention of "we're putting you in a group, stick/move with them". Kid friendly? Not today, not with that entitled player on the course. Don't be a pos, actually encourage...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at Foster Golf Links. The service was unprofessional and rude from start to finish.
After checking in at the clubhouse, nothing was mentioned about spectators or needing to pay for the entire cart. However, after we we got our cart and were about to head to the course, a staff member followed us out and started yelling that no spectators were allowed and that we should have paid for the whole cart, even though this was never communicated beforehand when we checked in together. Later, when returning the cart, another worker yelled at us insisting we return rentals in order to get our ID back — but we never rented any clubs or gave our ids anywhere, we had our own clubs and did not rent. We were just trying to ask this person where to return the cart but before we can say anything he began yelling about rentals.
The way staff spoke to us was unnecessarily aggressive and disrespectful, and the experience felt discriminatory. Instead of calmly clarifying policies, they chose to raise their voices and make assumptions. This created a hostile and unwelcoming atmosphere. I expected much better treatment and professionalism. Clear communication of policies upfront and respectful customer service should be the bare minimum. Sadly, this experience has made me not...
