I started MCA program in Jan 2021 when it was Platt College. It was virtual but they wanted to switch to hybrid and for personal reasons I couldn’t attend in person so I dropped out. April 2023, it’s Miller-Motte and I got an offer to return to finish. My circumstances changed and I have a job that pays more than MCA but I was interested in the LPN program. I went in to enroll in the LPN program. An enrollment advisor (that no longer works there) told me I should finish my MCA and then do a bridge to nursing. (which isn’t true). Then the manager of education and career services Amy Wingate told me I only have a couple classes left, it would look better on resumes if I finish what I started, I’d have the same instructor, was back to online so it would be even easier and in a couple months I could start LPN. I got hyped up and agreed to finish my MCA. There was issues every step of the way: password, the system is lagging, etc. it’d been a couple hours. The enrollment staff’s husband brought her lunch, they’re laughing, talking, taking 15-30 minutes at a time to check back with me. I find the lady, tell her I don’t have time to finish but I will later. I have to go pick up my kids. She asks me, if I don’t have time to enroll how am I going to make time for schoolwork. Unnecessary jab. I explained I was told half an hour and it’d been 2 hours. I finished enrollment, applied for FAFSA, and chose loans at home myself. Start date, I logged into my email looking for a link to join the class. Nothing. I emailed my instructor. Nothing. I called the school, they don’t know. I emailed Amy Wingate because she told me if anything came up, just ask. She responded in email saying give me 15 minutes and I’ll give you a call. An hour passes, nothing. I call the school, say that I have no response from my instructor or Amy. Receptionist takes down my number. She calls me back, says Ms. Wingate DID respond to me, and showed her the outgoing time stamp. I asked the time, and it was the time she responded saying to give her 15 minutes. I say that, and of course receptionist says Amy has no reason to lie. Fine. But I still don’t have a link to join. Turns out I was supposed to be there in person. I’d be there, but I was told it was online. Receptionist asked if I have that in writing. Of course not. The class is hybrid, I’m absent, I work on my schoolwork online and go in person next week. In class, my instructor Ms. Kelly Thrasher (she’s amazing) and I exchange correct contact information because we both had wrong info. Also it’s policy to wear the Miller- Motte uniform. They didn’t have any- they have me try on the sample ones to order it. That was April, it’s November and I still don’t have one. Last month I asked- I was told not to worry about it until I’m starting externship. I noticed in my student portal that I had quite a bit of classes. I won’t graduate until 2024. I don’t have any documentation of what I was told in April. I have one class at a time. I asked if I can take 2 at a time- no. I asked if I can take the pharmacology at LPN level so I have that done- no. I didn’t receive the financial aid allotment that is shown on my student portal. I don’t have a financial aid advisor. I don’t have an academic advisor. I took out loans based on Pell grant, but supposedly they returned a portion of the Pell grant because I’m part time. However, no documentation. My job offered a nursing grant. I had the application and needed a letter of acceptance from the school with the deadline of October 14th. I hate how the school is being run but the instructors are good, small class sizes and my schedule works with theirs so I wanted to continue there. I asked the director of education Elizabeth Blake for help with an acceptance letter. She says that I have to finish the MCA program before I can get a start date but if she can assist me in any way please let her know. I let her know that I was led on to join the MCA program since April. I let her know all the troubles I’ve had in the school and not surprisingly- she...
Read moreSo when I started the program it was formally Platt College and during the transition it did the name change to Miller-Motte. I started January 1st, 2022 and graduated Feb. 10th, 2023. At the Tulsa campus, that came with a big change in leadership and they took the negative reviews to heart by letting go key leadership and replaced them with stern, but humble leaders to direct multiple programs. Again, our class was right in the middle of all that.
There's a better and strong emphasis on human life and life itself is precious. Simply put, if you're only in it for the money then don't bother. You'll waste your time, money, leave a non-rational negative review, and possibly get a patient hurt through incompetence.
The program for me was not easy and I had to leave my job to help "me" understand the class lessons better because my brain just took more time to comprehend. The teachers here currently care immensely, but they can't help you if you don't rationalize your thoughts and speak up for anything you don't understand in the classes. I have a firm grasp on dosage because they took the time outside of class to help me because I had to reach out. Ms. Cobb is the director for the CNA program, Mr. Irish, Ms. Adams, Ms. Wingate, Mr. Martin, ect. are stern, but very reasonable. The first and last term proved to be the most tedious to manage time wise between work and school once I started working for St. Francis half way through the program.
For clinicals, the cottages are a great place to start if you have no CNA or MA experience when getting a feel for the diverse clinical options before going to St. John. Ms Cobb was awesome when I needed her advice and guidance on one previous patient during my nursing assessment later on in the program.
Ms. Wingate and the teachers keep an open mind when working with their students around the schedule to some extent, but don't be surprised when points are docked for being late for class. Just own up to it and move on. Accountability is everything and as a student I had to be accountable for myself as well.
Nothing is picture perfect, but the only bad thing about the school is that some of the practice medical equipment is out of date! Some of it looks like it predates the 1950's. Mainly the IV systems. This is my honest and critical review and I have no teachers to negatively criticize because...

DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL. Gives false information all the time. I didn't go to this school but my wife did for about 2 weeks. Told us the withdrawal/cancellation period was 14 days. We did just that due to paperwork complications. This year we were billed $3800. Went in to talk to them and another staff told us that the date was actually only 5 days to cancel. Also said that if we could find any kind of written documentation then they would gladly talk more about it to us. A bunch of miscommunication occurred so I went to do some research and their website shows a 7 day period cancellation... So either I've got this all messed up or something is wrong about how this...
