This is by far the worst gym I have ever been to in my life. TLDR: Scammers, Debt Collectors, Inability to provide account information. Not the gym itself but the incompetent management and employees that hardly know how to handle their own jobs. January 2020, I signed up with this gym to have a personal trainer, i was determined to get my life on track and I was excited to start this new journey with knowledgeable trainers. Boy was I wrong. Once Covid hit and we couldn't go into the gym for a while, I was still getting charged for the gym even though I couldn't go there! Imagine spending $350/month for not even getting to be there. The gym re-opened a couple months later, but my personal trainer hated his job and it showed, he eventually quit and I was given a new trainer (~August 2020) someone way more capable and knew what he was doing. He told me that my last trainer must have not known what he was doing because my form has been wrong, the workouts I was doing for 6 months were all wrong for me and everything. Of course, that was defeating to hear that 6 months of all this work was all for nothing and explained why I wasn't getting stronger or losing body fat! September 2020, I requested payments to be paused because of financial hardship. I couldnt keep affording $350/month and I needed the payments to be paused until my life started getting back together. After attempting to log in to my account, I found out that the manager that made my account never gave me the username or password to log in. He just made an account for me without giving me access to it. I called and asked for the information and they said I had to physically come in while the managers were there, which is difficult with their terrible hours! I told them I work during those hours and I cannot simply leave the job that pays me (during financial struggle) to go talk to someone. They informed me that they left a note for a manager to call me to get it done. The manager calls and I inform them I need my payments to be paused for a while because of financial reasons. They said "of course! Is that all?" And we end the call both seemingly happy. Then I get a charge for $350 and my account goes negative. I call them and say "hey, I requested my payments to be paused" to which I got a "oh nothing we can do about it, there's not a note". So they never took note of it? But then the personal trainer said they see the note and the manager is lying?! So after several more phone calls of people saying "there's no notes" "yes there is a note", they FINALLY pause my payments coming through. Which brings us to yesterday. June 2021. A debt collector informs me I've been skipping payments on my gym membership, to which I called Genesis Health Clubs and asked to check my account. Some girl says "oh well a manager will be here at 8am" and I can't handle this over the phone, it has to be in-person. I show up around 8:50 am today, being told that a manager won't be around till around 10 am. But they can leave a note so a manager will call me about my account. Around 12 pm today, I get a phone call from a manager informing me she does not see a note about my account or payments being put on pause and there's nothing she can do till Monday. I informed her how there definitely is a note, because I've talked to my personal trainer and he's informed me that there's definitely a note about my account. This is the WORST company to deal with. I've never ever had to be so on the defensive over anything or anywhere with a company. The lack of communication between team members. The REFUSAL to give me my OWN account information is baffling to me. Why can I not have access to my own account that you take money out of? They refuse to believe me when I informed them about these notes that were taken. If there is not a note, then why did they stop charging me $350/month? Or even the base $50/month directly to my bank account? God awful communication. The worst display of professionalism. 0/100. Do NOT recommend. I will be contacting the BBB to handle your...
Read moreThis is my second year at the gym. The first year I had some issues which management addressed so that is a big plus in my book because it tells me they listen. The things I like the most are they will let you use the aerobics rooms when no one is there which lets those of us that have a cardio routine that doesn't involve equipment have a place to work out. No other gym in Tulsa does that. Most are uptight about what they allow there members access to. The other thing I like is that most of the members are adults, and act like it, which makes it a great place to workout instead of testosterone ally if you know what I mean. The staff is friendly and the equipment is kept up. I would never use cotton towels from anyone else but my own laundry. They do have paper towel dispensers with soap to clean the equipment. So if you are looking for a clean place with mature adults and decent equipment you will have to pay a little more but you get what you pay for. I have been a member of a gym since 1999 and have been to a lot of gyms; this one is way better than the ones you pay $30 a month for.You might find a better gym, but I bet you will pay well over a thousand for membership and they will have some uptight rules of what you can't do. As far as the membership contracts go; all the gyms use a boiler plate contract so this gym is no different than any other. Most of the people that are upset are making an excuse to quit working-out. The hardest part is starting and then keep progressing. This is where most people fail the moment they figure out exercising is difficult and takes dedication. Make sure you are committed and if you are see you at the gym. P.S. I do not work for the gym nor am...
Read moreAs someone who takes their fitness and overall health very serious, I HIGHLY recommend Genesis Health Clubs as not only a great facility but also a great family to be a part of. I had in the recent past tried to find a place to fit in that could help me accomplish my goals and no place had embraced me more than the members of the team that is only growing at the Woodland Hills location. The Assistant Manager, Dalton, gave me my first tour and run down of the facilities and never once tried to sell me on anything. He let the floor speak for itself. With many of the nicest machines and stations set up that I have ever seen, I was instantly intrigued by the class of the establishment. Not to mention the training pool, jacuzzi spa, and eucalyptus sauna. I decided to play it cool and when it came to talk numbers, in my head I had already planned on joining simply because of the world class equipment and amenities, Dalton proceeded to tell me all about how his goals for the club were not to break the bank but to build an environment which was comfortable and affordable for anyone seeking to become the best version of themselves. With signing the dotted line, I was instantly offered a delicious protein shake (for free) and a few training sessions with the best of the best trainers!
Not to mention the front desk ladies are there each and every time I walk in with a smile on their faces, greeting me and wishing me a good workout. Any questions I ever have for them, they are more than willing to help out and give me all the assistance needed.
In all my years of searching for a “home gym”, I finally feel at...
