Tucked away in a cute quaint neighborhood not too far from the main streets is this beautiful All-Inclusive Park really a family center I would call it because the park is designed for it to be handicap /disability friendly. So anybody in wheelchairs or has adaptive equipment can use the area too. The Mary-go- round, plank swing set and more. Walking trails, sidewalk with handicap entrance. Benches, picnic table areas some with barbecue grills available. A covered table area. Not too far away from a tennis court and what looks like a community pool. Behind the park was a community center with a workout area. By that seemed to be a quiet spot where a bench was by a big beautiful tree. Honestly lots of beautiful trees and flowers throughout the area. They also have signs posted in the different areas with rules stated. Nothing out of the normal pretty much pets need to be on leash, pick up after yourself (pretty much kindergarten rules/golden rule things that people should know, but might need be reminded of ) and doggy pickup bag areas, although it seemed to be needing to be refilled, but most pet owners know to come prepared with supplies for that. I didn't see a water feature while there but I didn't go everywhere or up to the restroom so I might have missed it. Chica got to demonstrate how sweet and kind she was and let a few of the kids pet her after they asked first. It was a very proud Mama moment because all of the training I have done and TipTopK9 training has done is paying off. She's a very good service animal and girl! We talked to a few parents while here too and they all had good things to say about the park. The only thing that seemed to be a recurring comment was that they didn't see many kids there that have the adaptive gear "wheelchair" except for the first week it was open. The only other issue I foresee the little bit I was there is in association with the name of the park itself "Whiteside Park" if we're trying to be All inclusive. Maybe change the name to be more open and accepting sounding .I do, however, like that they named the playground itself something completely different "Hope...
Read moreI knew Whiteside got a big revamp but hadn't been to check it out until today. Holy wow!! This might be my new favorite park to bring my toddler! The Zoo and Gathering Place have amazing play structures but my toddler is at that age where he's READY to play and wants to try everything out which gets daunting around play areas for bigger kids.. he just gets angry I won't let him on the giant stuff and becomes more time spent fighting off a tantrum than playing - but at Whiteside we had the BEST time and he was able to use a lot of the structures with just a handful of things still too big that I have to steer him away from to avoid falling but he's going to LOVE them as he gets bigger and stronger. Okay pardon my dramatic enthusiasm as the stay at home parent of a toddler this has just been the most exciting find during a week of...
Read moreThe company I work for did the 8ft black cl fence around the pool. This is probably only the third time I've been to whitesides park. Whether it was working or just visiting the park. It still looks like it did 10 yrs ago. Maybe alittle dated , but that s one of the reasons we re there recently. The pools all redone and new bathrooms/showers/changing rooms. It's all ready to go. Except it's not gonna open this year thanks to covid-19. Hopefully everything will be back to normal next year and the pools will be open and everyone can enjoy summer time. Makes you realize how much we take for...
