Update: Called them to find out ticket prices because they donât post them online. Told me I could find out online right before I made my ticket purchase! Spoke with 2 different people and neither would tell me the price. Said I could find out at the time of my purchase!! How sketchy is that?!! Why so secretive about your prices unless their jacked way up and you know they are too much!! Tuscaloosa desperately needs another theater besides this one!!
First movie today since COVID and first time to this movie theater since it was sold by Cobb Theaters. Multiple things about this ânewâ theater that I donât like. One - no more matinee times on the weekend. Even if you go at 1 pm, youâre going to pay the same as if you went during prime time Friday and Saturday night. Two - gone is the reward program. I used to go to the movies a lot and loved getting points for ticket purchases and getting free concession items. Three - senior tickets went from age 55 to 65 now. That excludes me for quite a number of years! Three - no free refills on large soft drinks or popcorn. Says this is due to COVID but the large combo price was $17 with tax. They can afford to give you one new cup and one new popcorn container at that price! Four - best I can tell, there wasnât a senior combo either so youâre going to spend a minimum of $13 if you get just a small coke and popcorn. Five - no signs over the theaters indicating which movie is in which theater. I think Cobb had started this practice before they closed but I hate it! How hard is it to put the name up there?! Six - no one taking your ticket and telling you which theater your movie is in. Thereâs a small sign on the podium where this individual used to stand that tells which movie is where. I had to try to balance my jacket and phone, large popcorn and drink so that I could get my reading glasses out so I could read that little sign since no one was there!
While I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and getting to actually go to a theater once again, I was super disappointed in CMC Cinemas. Itâs such a shame that a town as large as Tuscaloosa doesnât have more than one movie theater which would force this one to at least be a little competitive. Pre-COVID, I saw several movies in Birmingham at an AMC theater, where prices were less for both tickets and...
Read moreIt is increasingly obvious that they will do nothing to improve the condition of this theater since there is no competition in the area. These portable ac units have been in the lobby far too long, nothing is being done to fix the problem. Restrooms are disgusting. Saw a movie during the first showtime of the day, there was a gigantic icee melted on the floor; that means the closers the night before and the openers that day did not clean the room, which is even more gross when you consider how many seats this place has with bags over them. Are they just covering them and not cleaning them when something happens? Speakers cut in and out during the movie, no presence of workers checking in on the auditorium, people talk loud on and off their phones, No one collecting tickets most of the time, they donât bother lighting up the signs over the door so you better pay attention to which auditorium your movie is in when you buy your ticket. Good luck if you ask for help, management seems inconvenienced for having to do anything. If you want to drain your wallet, imax is your best bet for not having people talking over the movie, but I would not recommend it. We saw the new alien movie. We sat in the theater for 20 minutes and finally went to get someone. The annoyed worker scoffed that someone forgot to start the movie. Went back to our seats and the movie started playing with no trailers because it started so late, Unbelievable. Crazy that some of these reviews are answered with a support email. I emailed and heard nothing back from them, so leaving a review for others to see. *Edit: the assistant manager did respond to my email finally, did seem concerned and is to my best knowledge doing the best they can. Still no answer to my google review, you all need to quit leaving five star reviews for movies that came out 3 years ago and let the people making these decisions know they need...
Read moreI am becoming increasingly concerned about the longevity of Tuscaloosa only movie multiplex. Some screens have gummy bears on them, chairs and toilets with garbage bag coverings, and the grounds are no longer being kept up. To make matters worse I pay for the passport program but I have been unable to use it for the last two weeks because they claim to be changing systems. People with gift cards also cannot use them.
I want to be fair. The staff is great, management is lackluster.
I worked in cinema management for a large chain. I can tell you when a chain stops paying attention to the upkeep and repairs of a cinema they are planning on slowly leaving the market. A lack of repairs and upkeep shows the attitude towards their market. Drive to Birmingham, you will have a better experience.
Note: Rewards and passport system undergoing âplannedâ upgrades July 4th week. This is traditionally a blockbuster release week. Planning for upgrades this week and disabling all discount programs that customers pay for shows a blatant cash grab and unrestrained greed on the part of CMX. Many other weeks that could have been chosen that would have been much less impactful. [[UPDATE]]. Menâs restroom toilet seems to be repaired. Cleanliness is still an issue as is the rewards system. Over 30 days down. [UPDATE October 2024]. CMX remains in decline. At least 4 months in reward system is still down. Customers with coupons and gift cards still cannot redeem them. Air conditioning is not functioning. Huge rental units are sitting in lobby. Half of the concession screens not working, menâs restroom sign is a printed piece of paper, Chairs in theaters remain broken. CMX, whatâs going on? Looming bankruptcy or is Tuscaloosa not an important market to you? [update] reward system is reportedly back online. Will update review...
