My wife and I were driving out west and decided to spend the night in Tuscaloosa and noticed the Outback Steakhouse close to our hotel. Being that Outback has always been a familiar favorite we decided to go. It was a busy night with a long wait but we were fine with that. Once we were seated my wife had just gotten back from using the bathroom when she had told me she encountered one of the hosts crying in it. My wife had asked what was wrong and the host told her "I'm just so stressed right now". That should've been our sign to leave. We were shortly greeted with our server who's name was Charles. I will say, he is the reason we had decided to even give this experience 3 stars. If you take him away I'd say it would have been just 1 star. He was an exceptional waiter. He had extensive menu knowledge and a pleasure to talk to and get to know. We ordered an appetizer, drinks, two steaks and a dessert. It took forever for our drinks to be made at the bar and we could clearly see all the tickets waiting on the bartender as he just seemed unbothered talking to other employees. We had informed our server and he went to talk to the bartender who's name was Bo and we could clearly hear him talking about us after. During our wait for our food we encountered another rude employee who was a red head that seemed to be working some to go business behind us. She would go in and out slamming the door, complaining and talking about customers. You can clearly tell employee morale at this restaurant is awful. It also sounded like a rap concert in the kitchen with loud music, yelling and noises. The food finally arrived after an hour and twenty minutes. It was average at best, steaks weren't cooked correctly and it had looked like the food was just thrown on the plate it was a mess. Charles apologized and offered to have it remade and we decided to keep it as we didn't want to stay all night at the restaurant. We did however wish to speak to a manager to voice our concerns from dinner. The manager, Doug, came over and he to also looked like he didn't want to be there. He seemed unbothered by our concerns and just walked away without even offering some sort of solution. My wife and I dine out and travel frequently and have been to many Outback's and comparable chains and we have to say this particular restaurant was one of the most chaotic and dysfunctional we have been to. Our server Charles was probably the only positive thing we could think of in our over 2 hour dinner experience. We had also met another very sweet and fun girl named Amber, my wife and her had engaged in some conversations as Amber had brought our salads and sauces out. It was certainly an experience to...
Read moreThis is my 3rd and last visit. Each time I have come here it has been a bad experience. Our waitress Hannah is probably upset about her tip. The service was not good. She was not busy at all, we were her 3rd table at a few minutes before 1 o'clock in the afternoon. We sat for at least 14 mins before she showed to ask if we wanted an appetizer. We declined and she took our drink orders, along with our meal order. 11 minutes passed before our drinks and bread showed up. Another 10 min wait on our salads, bear in mind we have been sitting for over 30 mins now. 12-13 minutes later she brings our meals, which is a reasonable time for steaks. We both ordered sirloins and shrimp, both orders were supposed to be medium, by their pictures and descriptions in the menu they should have been medium pink Mine was mostly well done and my wife's looked more medium rare, actually closer to how they both should have been. I had the coconut shrimp she had the grilled shrimp, they tasted great but they were tough as tire rubber. The steaks also tasted good but were not tender at all. During the meal not once did Hannah ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. I had to ask myself when I was running out. Hannah didn't offer to clear our salad plates and we had to ask for more bread. I had finished my meal and my wife was still actively eating when Hannah finally came around for her first check on us to ask if my wife wanted a go box and were we wanting desert. We declined both. She brought the ticket very quickly. I went to the restroom at this time and as I sat down and picked up the ticket Hannah showed very quickly to collect payment, it was the best service we had in the past hour and a half. The food gets 2 stars and Hannah gets 0 stars and no tip. I'm not a waiter but I know what it takes to be a good waiter, the service was bad. The food was clearly not worth what we were charged. Hannah if you see this I'm sorry you didn't get a tip but it's not my fault you don't treat your customers better, but lets face it you only made 4 trips to our table and you didn't put anymore effort into our dining experience than was necessary. Management if you see this you need to reexamine your training methods for your staff both in the kitchen and out front. I do not recommend this restaurant, there are better places where your value as a customer and your money are well spent. This is the last time I will...
Read moreMy friend treated me to lunch at Outback Steakhouse. We went for the Aussie 3-Course Meal for $14.99.
Course 1: Soup or Salad.
Course 2: Choice of entrée served with one steakhouse side. The Bloomin' Burger® • 8 Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp • 8 Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie
6 oz Center-Cut Sirloin • Grilled Chicken on the Barbie • Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders
8 oz. Center-Cut Sirloin • Bloomin’ Fried Chicken • 1⁄2 Rack of Outback Ribs
Course 3: Individual slice of New York-Style Cheesecake. Available for Dine-In Only.
We were seated right away. I ordered the 8 oz. center-cut sirloin with a side salad and loaded baked potato. My friend asked for the 1/2 rack of ribs, loaded potato and side salad. As soon as out orders were taken, they brought out a small loaf of bread. Then came our salads. Very fresh and enjoyable. Ten minutes later, after having plenty of time to devour our salads, our food came. The potatoes were piping hot. I ordered my steak medium. It was tender, but I still had to chew it. This wasn't the melt-in-your-mouth cut. Very flavorful. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. We couldn't eat it all, so we packed it up and waited for our third course. The cheesecake. There were optional toppings to choose from. A raspberry sauce, caramel or chocolate, and I don't remember the other. I was given the option of half caramel and chocolate to try on the side. The caramel didn't have much flavor at all. The chocolate sauce tasted like a fresh baked chocolate cake or brownie. It was totally unexpected, but good. The starting at price is for the smaller steak and not for the ribs. So the bill was $40 plus, not $30. Marketing at some restaurants are sneaky, so watch for...
