Updated review 8/28/24. Previously, the only bad thing about this place was their regular coffee. Their web team responded, thanking me for letting them know. Hopefully, they're as receptive about my most recent experience. For starters, their Wednesday afternoon host needs to invest in deodorant or take care of personal hygiene more frequently. The dude smelled bad from 3' away. Nice guy, all smiles, but wow. Second, have some adult supervision. Maybe a manager. Someone that can make a decision when you have tables waiting 10-15 minutes for their server to finish up in the toilet. Someone was tied up with a party of 9, so a decision-maker should have stepped in and had someone else cover-down, maybe? Third, the soap dispenser in the women's bathroom was non-functional, which means there's a chance the server didn't wash her hands with soap. We didn't know until my wife went to use the restroom before leaving. She ended up waiting until we got home, but the thought of the server having a bad bathroom day, and no soap being used before bringing out our food... I'll have what she's having? Lastly, I understand that at 12:45pm the crew might be a little tired from the morning and early lunch crowd, but a couple of them acted half if not fully-baked, not fatigued. Again, adult supervision might be able to pick up on this and address it. The food was still good, as far as we could tell. Haven't started showing signs of whatever bathroom-centric problems our server had, so yay! And... hope she feels better, soon.
Usually, ABE is a safe bet for a good meal. This location... not your usual Another Broken Egg. Set...
Read moreI am in love with their cinnamon roll French toast!! My boyfriend and I came here and I ordered cinnamon roll French toast. It came topping with a rum butter sauce and cream cheese icing, whipped cream, and fresh berries. AMAZING!! the best breakfast I've ever had. The sauces are so sweet and delicious and the fresh fruit/ whipped cream are the perfect complement to lighten up the dish. These are a must try if you like cinnamon rolls. They even come with eggs and a meat of choice (bacon, sausage, maple apple chicken sausage, ham) and eggs, but I substituted them for breakfast potatoes.
My boyfriend got biscuits and gravy which comes with breakfast potatoes, sausage patties, and eggs, but he subbed the eggs for an extra side of potatoes. The biscuit was nice and fluffy and the sausage tasted good; however, the gravy had a very weird texture/taste. It was thick and almost pasty, and tasted like meat. I wouldn't recommend this dish.
Although we weren't too happy with the one dish, and the potatoes are a bit dry, there are so many other dishes that sound wonderful, the service was good. We didn't wait too long to be seated but I've heard they're pretty packed on the weekends, the waitresses were nice, and we left full !! They have great portion sizes. They also have a variety of spiked coffees and drinks which sound good but I wish they made more specialty non-alcoholic drinks.
Overall great experience. Would definitely come back to try some other menu items or get me another one of those cinnamon roll French toasts! They have good seasonal specialties that change too for...
Read moreToday, my server Kammy truly made my day better. I come here often, just to sit outside sometimes to study, sometimes simply to relax before starting my day. There are moments when the grief from losing my mother unexpectedly hits me, and I just need a quiet space.
As Kammy approached, she greeted me warmly: “Dr. K, how’s your day? I hope it’s going well. Would you like your usual, or do you want to change it up today?” She had the biggest, most genuine smile. I laughed and said, “The usual.”
As she noticed the papers I was working on, we had a brief conversation about her baby son. As she shared stories about him, I realized how much that lightened the weight I was carrying that morning, it gently distracted me from my pain. I even gave her a few suggestions for certified babysitters and daycares, and in that moment, I could feel my mom gleaming through me.
Throughout her shift, Kammy worked the inside tables but kept an eye on me outside. I want to thank you, Kammy, for always making space for me to sit outside, even when there’s no guaranteed coverage. You never know what someone is going through, but your kind smile and the simple gesture of asking, “Would you like your usual?” truly...
